Julep nail polish and glow on hand cream
The Glow On Age Defying Hand Brightener is incredible! It is smooth, silky and makes my hands soft without being greasy. The formula is created to minimize fine lines and age spots on your hands-making the tone more even and brighter! The science behind it is rare African plant extracts that have been proven to block melanin production and reduce the hyper-pigmentation that you already have. It also uses micro light diffusing technology to give your hands an instant luminescent look! I definitely saw this! After I used the included sample of the divine Glycolic Hand Scrub and finished with the Glow On my hands looked much younger instantly!

The Maya polish is a shimmery peachy pink seashell color. It would be perfect for an elegant event where just a touch of color was desired to a sun-kissed day at the beach! The Taylor polish is a deep sky blue that POPS! It’s described as somewhere between periwinkle and denim and is the perfect fashion statement for my daughter or me! The polish went on smooth and easily, dried quickly and lasted a long time!

DIY “Daddy Cam” Frame

Hayden and I made this for Heath for Father’s Day last year, but I think it would be a great gift anytime of year!

It’s a super cute “Daddy Cam” which was originally posted on the blog AlphaMom.

Here’s what you need.

-Wood Blocks

-Nails

-Hammer

-Black Spray Paint or Black Acrylic Paint

-Sand Paper

-Paintbrush

-Small and Big Lids

I actually had a hard time finding the right size wood blocks. I went to Home Depot and when I gave them the measurements that AlphaMom emailed to me (4 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 3 inches thick) they weren’t able to give them to me. AlphaMom suggested asking to look in their scraps bin.  I used 4×4 blocks.

I bought sandpaper and black spray paint from Michael’s and used a peanut butter jar lid for the “lens” and a lid to a 20 oz. soda bottle for the “shutter button”.

I spray painted the wood block and lids outside. After drying overnight, nail the peanut butter lid to the  front of the block and the soda bottle cap to the top.

Then I just put the picture of Hayden in the “lens” and it was finished! Super cute on our bookshelf and Heath loves it!

Save Energy and Keep Your Clothes Clean with Tide Coldwater!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been taught to wash my clothes in warm water if I wanted to make sure to get any stains out and make sure the clothes get clean.

I was excited to try Tide Coldwater and see if it would wash my clothes just as well as washing clothes in warm water!

SheSpeaksbutton

I tested out the Tide Coldwater thanks to SheSpeaks and used it on our normal loads of wash and also my husband’s work clothes. He works in retail and his clothes can get a little bit dirty! He has always told me he wishes we could wash his clothes in cold water so they would last longer and be softer, but that the warm water ultimately got the stains out!

Tide Coldwater is specially designed with an increased amount of surfactant chemistry (compared to regular Tide) that allows it to penetrate easily into fabrics. Tide Coldwater is also specially formulated with an increased amount of polymer technology (compared to regular Tide) to suspend dirt particles to help prevent them from redepositing on fabrics, helping keep both your colors bright and your whites white!

I was excited to see that not only did the Tide Coldwater get out stains on clothing but they still had that great Tide smell! Add in that I’m actually saving money on my energy savings with using cold water and Tide Coldwater is definitely the way to go!

Do you use coldwater laundry detergent?

Disclosure: I received  full-size bottle of Tide Coldwater and a giftcard from P&G and SheSpeaks. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.

Make It Pretty Wednesdays: Valentine’s Day Heart Wax Wrapping Paper & Baker’s Twine

Do you need a cute way to wrap up a gift or maybe even a brownie or some other treat for Valentine’s Day? Check out this really fun packaging made with wax paper and twine!

Here is what you will need for the Heart Wax Paper:

  • Wax paper
  • Tissue paper
  • Tea towel or other thin cotton towel
  • Scissors & Iron
  1. Cut out your hearts from tissue paper. I did the fold-over trick and it went really quick!
  2. Tear off a sheet of wax paper and fold it so the resulting half makes the size of wrapping paper that you would like. Arrange the tissue paper hearts between the sheets.
  3. Place a tea towel on top of the wax paper and iron on medium with a dry heat until you can see the layers adhere to each other in between the hearts. Allow it to cool. The sheets will be attached delicately-do not pull them apart!

Here is what you will need for the baker’s twine:

  • Twine
  • Red Permanent Pen in a medium
  • Ruler
  1. Wrap twine tightly around ruler as shown.
  2. Make lines about 1/4″ thick across the twine, about 1/4″ apart.
  3. Let it dry. Drying times will vary depending on the material you used. Also, I used a thicker twine, and from what I have seen in other tutorials, the thinner twine seems to be easier to make lines that are more consistent around.

The great thing about this wax wrapping paper is that you don’t have to worry about the moisture from baked goods working it’s way through the paper. If you have many treats to give out-it’s a lot more cost effective than purchasing Tupperware for each person!

If you’d like, use different colors of tissue paper or different sizes of hearts. Make it a family project and have your older children help you with the cutting!
