Family and Life in Las Vegas

Welcome to Week 43 of Toddler Talk Thursday! Where Family and Life in Las Vegas, Crazy about my Baybah, and My Life as a Sippy Cup Mom talk all things TODDLER!!

** If you want to follow this on twitter – or plan on tweeting your post – please use hashtag: #letstalktoddler **

Toddler Talk Thursday was created as a place for moms and dads of toddlers to come together over a weekly topic and share ideas, go-to toys, or products. It is a great way to meet other bloggers of toddlers. Each week the topic will be different; we invite you to link up, share your weekly Toddler Talk!!

Each week the hosts will travel around to each blog to see what topic your suggest for the following week. If we choose your topic – you will be our featured blog.

Keep the GREAT suggestions coming. We have an on-going list we will choose from each week. Some topics are ones we have done in the past – but that doesn’t mean we won’t revisit them!!

In order to qualify for this you need to blog about this week’s topic, and follow the hosts.

And the end of your post – suggest a topic for next week.

Comments letting us know you are participating are always great too. If we choose your blog, we will link back to your post the following week.

This week’s featured Blog is: $aving Towards A Better Life who suggested

This Week’s Topic: Vacationing With A Toddler

Do you have any planned? Are you worried, excited? Do you have any tips to share?

We travel a lot with Hayden! We have since he was 3 months old and he is a really good li’ traveler.

The longest trip we have taken with him was 16 hours to Disney World. We did it last year when he was 2 and then again this year. We split the trip up into 10 hours one day and then 6 the next day.

We always make sure to take plenty of breaks while on the road! We hit the rest stops and always stop for lunch. When we get gas, we will let him get out and stretch his legs if he isn’t sleeping!

The best advice I have is to bring a portable DVD player and some DVD’s. This has been such a HUGE help during long car rides! I also make sure to get a bunch of little toys (from the $ store or Target) and put in a bag from him. When he starts getting cranky, I’ll pull them out and hand them to him one by one!

We also will hit the library before we go and fill up a giant bag or books he has never read. You can also rent DVDs that you don’t own from the library so those are new to him too!

Then I always have another bag that is full of SNACKS! These always keep my toddler happy! ;-)

We are leaving today for a 4 day trip to Branson!

When we go on vacations, we will try to keep to his schedule as close as we can, but it’s not always possible to go back to the hotel for some nap time. Hayden always falls asleep in his stroller usually!

As for bedtime, he was sleeping in a pack n play whenever we traveled until last fall. Now, he sleeps in a bed with us and has no problem going to sleep! We have a pretty good traveler on our hands!

those are great tips! We are thinking of making the 16hr trip to Disney in the fall…hmmm, you are making the road trip not sound so awful!! We have the DVD and lots of movies…maybe we should drive it. Do you mind me asking where you stop off to break up the trip? WE’ll be coming from south texas, near galveston.

Have a great Branson trip, we’ve always wanted to take the boys there too!

  2. Have a fun trip!
