Summer is coming to an end and holy callouses do my feet show it! Dry, rough, neglected… they just might need a drink themselves! Mojito, anyone?
Jar of sugar scrub w/ a mint leaf and wooden spoon tied with twine around it. limes set in front.

Scrub the layers away with this recipe straight from your kitchen:

  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1/4 cup of almond oil (substitutes: olive oil, jojoba oil or grapeseed oil)
  • 3 sprigs of fresh mint
  • 1 teaspoons lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Mixing
Chop the mint into tiny pieces and put in a glass bowl. Pour in your oil and mash (muddle) the mint leaves using the bottle of a glass. If I were really fancy I would have a mortar and pestle, but a glass works just fine! Add the lime zest and juice. Mix in the sugar. You might need a bit more than 1 cup depending on the consistency you would like.

How do you exfoliate?
In the shower, wash as normal. Spread a bit of the scrub on your knees, elbows or feet and rub in a gentle but firm circular motion. Rinse and pat dry with a towel. Keep in mind that mint has a cooling effect so it should not be used in sensitive areas. Although, most people probably would not be using a scrub on these “areas” anyway!

And if you’re so inclined here is a fantastic Mojito drink recipe:

  • 1.25 oz Captain Morgan spiced rum
  • 12 mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 0.5 oz lime juice
  • 2 oz soda

Place mint leaves in bottom of glass. Add crushed ice, Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, sugar, and lime juice, and muddle. Add soda water and garnish with mint leaves. Enjoy!

That sounds really nice. I’m going to have to buy the mint leaves and lime zest though. My kitchen is empty on those items. :)

Yeah… I had to make an extra stop for those too. Although, I didn’t have to order them from a specialty store online-so that is good!
