The past two weeks, St. Louis has been breaking records with the temperatures. 105, 106, 108, we have felt it all this week! Hayden has been going a bit stir crazy since we have been staying inside the past two weeks enjoying the hard-working air conditioning and the extra fans we bought but I knew that he deserved a fun-filled summer day!
We headed out to our local pool as soon as it opened and had fun cooling off in the water and the shade! We had a blast for a few hours until it got too hot and crowded!
After we got home, Hayden immediately fell into that deep sleep you only can do after a long day of swimming. After he woke up, he kept going on and on about how much fun he had that day swimming. Since we were having such a fun summer day, I knew that I wanted to end that day with the perfect summertime treat – S’mores!
Hayden is a marshmallow fanatic and we have had S’mores before last fall when we roasted marshmallows over our fire pit. With it still being 102 at 8pm at night, there was no convincing my husband to go outside and break out our fire pit. We had to make do with making our S’mores inside in the microwave! While they didn’t have that toasted goodness, they still melted perfectly with the Hershey’s chocolate and graham crackers for that perfect summertime treat!
Making S’mores in the summertime with your family is a great tradition to start! What kind of summertime traditions do you have? Have you made S’mores with your kids yet?
