Review & Giveaway: Win a $149 LG Remarq Kid-Friendly Cell Phone from kajeet

These days, technology is everywhere. I have friends who have children that are ages 10-12 and all of their kids are begging for a phone. Before I was a Mom, I used to think there’s no reason a child that young needs a phone. But these days, I’ve definitely been thinking differently. A phone can actually be a good thing for a child, as long as a parent is watching over them. When I think of Hayden being older and being without me I want to be able to get a hold of him when I need to and vice versa! But can you really trust a kid not to use their phone to go online, use up all your minutes or go over your text limit?

If you’re thinking about getting a phone for your child or teenager, look into kajeet cellular phones – phones specifically designed for children!

Not only are the kid cell phones from kajeet affordable, they are also safe and let the parents choose the features available on the phone!

Check out some of the great features that kajeet offers!

No Contracts, Activation Fees or Early Termination Fees.

kajeet understands that kids are always changing their minds. With kajeet, you’re not locked into a contract, there’s no activation fees or outrageous early termination fees like other phone companies.

Easy Parental Controls

With the parental controls, you can decide how many minutes and text messages are allowed. You can even control who your child calls and texts and when!

With the Time Manager, you can make sure your child can’t make or receive calls and texts during school or after bedtime.

The Feature Manager lets you control if your child has mobile internet access and the ability to download ringtones and games or even receive pictures!

GPS Phone Locator

Yup, I’m going to be one of those Moms who wants to know exactly where their child is. {Can I be like that when he’s in his twenties too?} I love the option of a phone having a GPS so you can instantly locate where they are.

kajeet cell phones are on the Sprint service, so you will have nationwide coverage also. Since kajeet is the company providing the service you won’t have access to things like Spring Navigation, Social Zone, Sprint TV and more.

The kajeet website is very easy to navigate also. First, you choose your phone. All of the available phones are Android phones like LG cell phones or even the HTC Evo Shift!

Once you choose your phone, it’s time to choose a service plans. Service plans start at just $4.99 a month. The most popular plan is only $19.99 a month and that includes unlimited texting, picture messaging, parental controls, GPS locator and 150 anytime minutes.

Fill out your information and then the phone is sent to you!

I received the LG Remarq to review, which has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, a built-in MP3 player and even a 1.3 MP camera! This it the perfect phone for your child or tween!

I love that parents have total control of the phone. Bad grade or missed curfew? Subtract texts and minutes! Good grade? Add some minutes!

Book Review: Isabella: Girl on the Go by Jennifer Fosberry

Isabella’s back, and her dreams are turning an ordinary backyard into an exciting adventure! Join Isabella on a new imaginative journey in Isabella: Girl on the Go.

Jennifer Fosberry has created an inspiring follow-up to her New York Times bestselling series featuring everyone’s favorite purple-haired, little girl. Previously, Isabella discovered her favorite heroes in My Name Is Not Isabella. Now she travels around the world experiencing its greatest wonders without ever leaving her own backyard.

Isabella, as precocious as ever, spends the day playing her dad as they discover some of the greatest places man has made around the world. She pretends everyday things (like the sandbox) are extraordinary places (like the desert and pyramids of Egypt). Isabella ends the day in her own home-sweet-home, the most wonderful place to be.

This book is a sweet glimpse into a little girl’s day with her Dad. Isabella is constantly changing her mind about what she wants to be when she grows up. And boy does she dream big! This book tours the globe stopping at the Pyramids of Giza, the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China, Chichen Itza, Big Ben, the Statue of Liberty and many more. Isabella hops from one dream to the next but at the end she decides that her home is just where she wants to be.

The artwork is beautiful and wonderfully colorful. My kids were transfixed by the images of far away lands. The back of the book features a wonderful section detailing the archaeological and architectural places that were part of Isabella’s story. I loved that they included this educational aspect in such a fun, sweet little story.

My family loved Girl on the Go! It was wonderful story about a determined and motivated little girl with big dreams for her future. She wants to travel the world, but she still appreciates where she comes from, and loves coming home the most!

Be Prepared for Blogging Conferences: Do you have your Business Cards?

It’s already February and that means that the blogging conference season is kicking off! I am headed to Blissdom in Nashville Tennessee in just a few weeks [so excited to be going on behalf of Rug Doctor!}.

Blog conferences are so much fun! Not only do you get to learn a lot, you get to meet people in real life that you have became close to online and it’s also a great time to recharge and have some “me time”.

I was lucky enough last year to attend 5 blogging conference in 2011 – Blissdom, Disney Social Media Moms, Midwest Moms, BlogHer and the Show Me the Blog Conference in St. Louis. Each conference was unique and I was able to bring away something different from each one.

One of the most important things to have when you head to a blogging conference are business cards!

I’ve been looking around and I am in love with the business cards from Tiny Prints! There are so many different ones to choose from. You can create a business card using one of their cute templates or customize it even further with photos!

When choosing a business card, I definitely recommend making yours unique! Whether it be with a photo of you or colors that pop, you’ll want to make sure everyone you meet remembers you! If you can, leave a little bit of blank space on the business card. This will be great for people to make notes or for you to add additional information to the card!

Here are just a few cards from Tiny Prints that I love:

{This was my very first business card!}

A question I got is what to put on your business card. Everyone is different, but I just like to get the basics. I’ll put my blog name and URL, name, email address, Facebook URL and Twitter handle. I don’t include my phone number or address.

Are you headed to any blogging conferences this year? What’s your best conference tip?
