It’s a new school year which means new fashion trends for boys and girls headed back to school. From graphic tees to denim and skater-inspired dresses, Macy’s is the place to go and stock up!

In St. Louis, the event will be held at the Macy’s West County on Saturday, August 16th at 2pm. Head to the Kid’s department on the 3rd floor for an afternoon of fun – I’ll be there hanging with my 3 kids! I hope to see you there!

Head to DSW in St. Louis for a Fun Family Event #minishoelover

I’ve mentioned before that when a company does good, it makes me love them even more. If you’re in the St. Louis area, you’ll want to attend the DSW Back to School Event on Saturday, August 16th from 10am-2pm. It’s going to be full of so much fun with a ton of family-friendly activities but I love that they are also holding a shoe drive. Attendees and shoppers will have an opportunity to donate new or gently-used shoes to be given to a local charity! I have so many shoes that my son has outgrown and this is the perfect opportunity to put them to good use.

The first 50 attendees get a bonus gift card, plus there will be giveaways, crafts, story time, a dress-up photo booth and more to celebrate the addition of a kids department (baby on up!) at DSW!  Please RSVP here and bring the whole family!

Visit Grant’s Farm in St. Louis #GrantsFarm60

I’ve been a fan of going to Grant’s Farm as long as I can remember. Growing up, I always looked forward to field trips or when my Mom would take me there. When I became a parent, it was one of the first places we took my son when he was just a couple months old. If you’re not in St. Louis, Grant’s Farm is the 281-acre ancestral home of the Busch family {yes, Anhuser-Busch!}, and is home to more than 900 animals representing more than 100 different species. The Farm takes its name from Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. In the 1850s, Grant founded and farmed a portion of the 281 acres. This year, Grant’s Farm is celebrating their 60th anniversary and there’s tons of new stuff this year to explore!

Grant's Farm Logo

We live very close to Grant’s Farm and are usually there a few times a year. For some reason, we JUST were able to visit last week but it was worth the wait. In addition to the family favorites of Clydesdale tours, baby goat feedings and camel rides, you’ll love the swan paddle boat rides on Mirror Lake and parakeet feedings that have been added this year.

When you arrive at Grant’s Farm, there’s now a few things you can do. You can head to the General Store {which we always save for last}, visit Mirror Lake for the swan paddle boat rides for $7 for 2 people or board the tram for a ride through the Deer Park.

The kids were anxious to see some animals, so we boarded the tram {you’ll have to take your kids out of the stroller, as they store the strollers separately on the tram. Also, no wagons allowed!} to ride through the Deer Park.

Deer Park

The Deer Park is home to a variety of exotic animal species from around the world, including Bison from North America , Black Buck Antelope from Europe, Red Deer from Asia and Europe, Zebra from Africa and more! There are also several beautiful lakes filled with fan-tailed goldfish and brilliant orange and white Japanese Koi. The Koi have been known to grow up to five feet in length and live to be 150 years old.

This is one of my favorite parts of a trip to Grant’s Farm. I love passing the home of President Grant and seeing all of the animals roaming around – sometimes so close to the tram!

Tier Garten and Animal Attractions

Once you exit the tram into the Tier Garten, there are a number of activities to enjoy!

Grant’s Farm Tip – Buy a Fun Pass for only $5! You’ll get 2 bottles of milk to feed the goats, a sno-cone and a carousel ride!

Grant's Farm Fun Pass

We always like to head to feed the goats first. You can buy bottles of milk to feed them. The best time is to feed them in the morning but you’ll find a hungry goat any time of day! We usually go in to feed them but Hayden opted to feed them from outside the fence today.

Grant's Farm Goats Hayden

After the goats, we headed over for a carousel ride! It’s only $2.00 a person {but make sure you get the Fun Pass to save money!}. Hayden always has a blast and Evie also went on her first carousel ride! Olivia wasn’t too sure this time.

Grant's Farm Carousel

Then we set about exploring the rest of the Tier Garten! This is when you can get an up-close look to a ton of different animals like kangaroos, tortoises, colorful birds and more!

Grant’s Farm Tip: Bring some quarters so you can feed the camels!

Grant's Farm Elephants

Elephant Education - At Grant’s Farm, make sure to check out the Elephant Education Show. Guests will be introduced to members of the elephant herd and learn about their behavior and conservation in this interactive demonstration. Show Times: 11:15 am, 12:45 pm, 2:15 pm.

Animal Encounters - In the West Tier Garten Amphitheater, animals will entertain visitors with their athletic abilities in this close-up, interactive encounter. Show Times: 10:30 am, 12:00 pm,1:30 pm,3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

We loved visiting with the elephants and feeding the camels. While you’re here, don’t forget to feed the parakeets for only $1 {new this year!} and take a camel ride for $5.

Grant's Farm Flamingos

The Bauernhof

All of that animal interaction can work up an appetite! There is no food or drink allowed inside Grant’s Farm, so this is the place to head for lunch or a snack. {There are various stands throughout the Tier Garten too}.

I love the history to explore here. The Bauernhof, German for “farmstead”, was built in 1913 and was the first building constructed on the Busch family estate. The Busch family’s world-renowned carriage collection and stables are housed here and I always love reading about them.

Hayden Grant's Farm

We love grabbing some food and then sitting in the beautiful courtyard. You’ll want to take a seat and look around at the gorgeous German architecture. We actually sat here for well over an hour the other day and it was very relaxing. Of course, I enjoyed a HUGE pretzel with cheese. There’s also a variety of sandwiches, hot dogs and brats, German potato salad and more!

Grant's Farm Tables

Parents – I’ve saved the best for last! If you’re 21 years of age and older, head to the Hospitality Room to enjoy complimentary samples of Anheuser-Busch products. There’s a limit of 2 per adult. Right now, they are serving up the Grant’s Farm 60th Anniversary Beer – and it’s delicious! This was definitely my favorite and I hope they bottle it up soon!

Clydesdale Stables

Once you leave the farm and head back to the parking lot, don’t forget to venture down to the end to check out the Clyesdale Stables. Grant’s Farm is the official “prep” school of the Budweiser Clydesdales. The Budweiser Clydesdale Stables are home to over 50 head of Clydesdales that vary in age from weanlings at 6 months of age to retirees of fifteen or older.

Grant’s Farm Scavenger Hunt

I’ve created a fun printable to bring with you on your next trip to Grant’s Farm! See if your little ones can spot all of the animals on the sheet!

Attend The 2014 Anheuser-Busch Biergarten Bierfest on July 11th #STLBierfest

I’m always looking for fun things for my husband and I to do during Date Night. We usually will grab dinner and a movie, but this Friday, July 11th I’m excited to be attending the first annual Biergarten Bierfest at Anheuser-Busch. We always love visiting Anheuser-Busch and it’s in our Top 5 list of places we tell our out of town friends and family to visit. We haven’t been since they opened up their Biergarten so I’m doubly excited to explore that and this new Bierfest.

Biergarten Bierfest Collage

On July 11 from 7-10 p.m. at The Biergarten Bierfest, guests can taste a variety of beers expertly paired with specialty menu items and meet with brewmasters to learn more about how beer can be the perfect complement to food. My husband and I love pairing different kinds of beers with our food so I’m interested to hear from the experts.

There will be five different stations to check out.

  • Unique to The Biergarten Station – To help celebrate St. Louis’ 250th anniversary, Anheuser-Busch is brewing Faust, first brewed in 1884 and now only available at The Biergarten and the Budweiser Brew House at Ballpark Village. This extremely rare beer will be poured at The Biergarten Bierfest and paired with Biergarten cheese, onion and bacon sliders. Guests can also enjoy Budweiser Premium Draught, which pours draft Budweiser 6 degrees cooler than standard draft units.
  • Belgian Trio Station –Coriander dusted and bacon wrapped bay scallops will be paired with Stella Artois, Hoegaarden and Leffe to accentuate the richness of the scallop dish without overwhelming the balance of flavors.
  • Bud Light Lime “Ritas” Station –  Lime-A-Rita, Straw-Ber-Rita, Mang-O-Rita and Raz-Ber-Rita will be paired with jerk chicken with pineapple and mango salsa. The sweet citrus notes in the Ritas will contrast the spice in the jerk chicken for a pleasing flavor.
  • Shock Top Station - Whether it’s the classic Belgian White, the Lemon Shandy or Twisted Pretzel Wheat, the Shock Top station will invite guests to try something new with their beechwood smoked ribs.
  • Apple Station – For a sweet experience, guests can enjoy Johnny Appleseed, Shock Top Honey Crisp Wheat and Stella Artois Cidre paired with apple crisp and honey.

Biergarten Bierfest

Bring me straight to the Shock Top Station! As for my husband, I know he will be excited to try Faust, a beer first brewed in 1884. What an awesome opportunity!

Buy Tickets to the Biergarten Bierfest

Adults 21 and older can buy tickets to the Biergarten Bierfest online. The event will take place Friday, July 11th from 7pm to 11pm.

- Regular tickets cost $25 and include 15 2-ounce samples of beer, five food pairing stations and a commemorative glass.

- VIP tickets cost $35 and include access to the beer and food pairing sample stations, a commemorative glass and hat, and a visit to the finishing tank where guests will taste fresh beer straight from the tank. {What?! How cool is that!!}

Organized Grocery Shopping with the Shop ‘n Save App

Did you know that Shop ‘n Save has a mobile app for your smartphone? I came across it several months ago and have used it on a weekly basis ever since. I cannot tell you how much time and money I have saved using this app. Check out the best features!

Organized Grocery Shopping

Store LocatorBefore you can fully utilize all the options available on the app, you will have to pick a home store. All you have to do is type in your ZIP Code and the nearest stores will appear. Simply click on the store of your choice and you can start using every feature of the app right away! When you choose a home location, you will have fast access to the store phone number, hours of operation, and an itemized list of all departments offered in the store.

I used to scribble my grocery list down on a magnetic pad of paper that was attached to my fridge. I always felt organized when I would plan for my grocery trip this way. However, it would often defeat the purpose when I would forget to grab the list on my way out to the grocery store. This has happened to me more times than I would like to admit.  Fast forward to my awesome, foolproof method of keeping track of my grocery list…the new and improved Shop ‘n Save App!

What is really cool about the app is that as you run out of items in your home, you just scan the barcode of the product before you toss it away. The App saves the item to your grocery list along with the price and weight of the item (4oz, 1 lb, etc). So not only is your grocery list saved permanently on your smart phone but it also keeps a running estimation of the cost of your next grocery trip. In addition, you have the ability to create your shopping list on the Shop ‘n Save website ( and synchronize it with the App. My favorite part of creating and managing my grocery list on This app is the ability to check items off as I shop. Absolutely everything can be done on your smart phone with no need for pen or paper!

Grocery List

Another great feature with the Shop ‘n Save app is that the weekly ad can be found on it. However, what makes this feature unique compared to other retail websites is the fact that you can click on any sale item in the ad that you would like to purchase and it automatically transfers to your shopping list. Gone is the day when your mother would take a paper sale ad and a pen and just circle all the items that she would like to purchase! If you would rather scroll down an itemized list of sale items organized by categories (baby, produce, dairy, etc), you can do that too with the app. You can still add the item to your shopping list by clicking on the item under each category.

Weekly Ad

I was very excited when my local Shop ‘n Save added a drive-through pharmacy for convenience. But I was ecstatic when the shopnsave app added a quick and time-saving scan option for renewing pharmacy prescriptions. All I have to do is scan my prescription bottle in the app under the Pharmacy tab and my local store gets busy refilling my medicine the same day. There is an option to answer a few basic questions, if you prefer not to use the built-in scanner. I cannot tell you what a timesaver this is!

I highly recommend this app if you’re looking for the ultimate mobile/tablet grocery shopping experience!
