This Week’s Topic:

Playground Etiquette: What do you do when another child is pushing, hitting, kicking, or hurting/bullying your child at the playground.

Hayden loves going to our local playgrounds. I still tend to stay pretty close to him when is on the playground equipment though. I don’t hover, but those open spaces still scare me that he will fall off.
There’s only been a couple instances where I have seen an older kid push Hayden out of the way. With this, I have no problem telling the child to wait their turn, or that it’s almost their turn.
If I saw a child really bullying Hayden, I would say something to the child and to the parent. I need to work on teaching Hayden to tell  child no if he feels he is being pushed around.

This Week’s Topic:

How do you get your toddler to sit still for a hair cut?

Sigh. We actually used to not have any problems with Hayden getting his haircut. Ever since he was one, we went to a place that was only for children. He loved sitting in the little cars and being able to pick out a DVD to watch.

We had a bad experience when his regular girl left and he did not like the new girl. The next time we went in for a haircut, he had an absolute fit!

We tried a new place, armed with suckers and a DVD and he still did not like it.
Finally, we bought some clippers from Target and now my husband and I park him in front of the TV and do it ourselves. But trust me, I am NOT good at cutting hair. When we buzzed it, it seemed to look okay, but now that it’s growing out you can see what a terrible job we did!

I think it’s time for another hair cut! ;-)

This week’s topic is: How do you help your toddler stay healthy during cold and flu season?

This is the first cold and flu season that Hayden will be in preschool. He already always gets sick during winter and since starting school in August he has been sick twice. Last week he was so sick we had to visit the doctor and have breathing treatments.

Even though Hayden has already received his flu shot, I’m already dreading him getting sick even more this cold and flu season.

Here are a few things that we already do year round, but I’m going to make sure we are doing even more!

1. Wash Hands! At school, they have sinks right as you walk in. We make sure to wash our hands right away. I know that he washes his hands in the classroom too. We also have a stepstool in our bathroom so he can easily wash his hands himself.

2. Cover your mouth! We are still working on this, but I’m making sure that Hayden covers his mouth when he coughs or sneezes. It’s an ongoing learning process! ;-)

3. Staying in. Sometimes during the winter, it’s just fun to hibernate and stay in and rest.

This week’s topic is: What is currently your toddlers favorite book?

Thank you Lil Bit of Us for the topic!

Hayden has a huge amount of books. I love to read, so I’m always picking them up when I see them. He has a bookcase that is packed full in his room and bins of books also. Our living room is full of them also.

Right now, Hayden is big into books that have to do with his favorite shows and movies.

I bought him the Peter Pan Golden Book from Amazon and it’s quickly become his favorite!

He loves for me to read it to him when he’s in the bath and he keeps it in bed with him all the time!

What’s your child’s favorite book?
