Nutrisystem Weekly Weigh-In

It’s the time of week again, time for the Weekly Weigh-In for Nutrisystem!

The past 2 weeks have been a real struggle for me. I was working out and feeling good but not losing anything.

Then of course there was Easter, several dinners out with family, a BBQ and dun dun dun….the Jimmy Buffet concert with 4 hours of tailgating and then the actual concert.

So I wasn’t too surprised when I weighed in and found that I am 2 pounds up. Definitely to be expected.

So I am at a total weight loss of 21.1 pounds. I’m still down 3 sizes in jeans and I actually might have to go down another size, so that feels awesome! I know I’m losing the inches!

I just put in my Nutrisystem order for next month and I am super excited. I decided to switch things up and I’m also trying some new foods!

I love the wonderful support system I have with Nutrisystem! Everyone is so fabulous and encouraging! I love my #NSNation! Winking smile

Surviving Holidays and Events on Nutrisystem

Easter is over but with Spring and Summer approaching there are always so many events happening. Graduation parties, Mother’s Day, BBQs and more.

Nutrisystem has 8 Diet-friendly strategies for staying on track during the holidays!

1. Have a plan. Think things through before you get to the actual holiday meals and parties. Maybe your strategy is to take tiny portions of different dishes; that’s okay. If you’re cooking, you might want to have your bottle of water with you in the kitchen, so you’re less tempted to snack. Do what you can to stay away from the appetizer table. Plan to avoid anything that’s not homemade. The point is that if you go in with a plan, you’ll be less likely to get caught off-guard.

2. Stay on track. Holidays are not the time to skip meals in an attempt to “bank” calories. That’s a strategy that can backfire miserably. Instead, eat everything on your meal plan leading up to the holiday event, and make sure you’re drinking all your water. You’ll be less likely to overindulge at the big event.

3. Set a goal. There’s something about holidays that makes people forget what they do the rest of the year. Do you already have weight loss goals set up for November, December and January? If not you can start today. Once you’ve set a short-term goal, decide on a way to reward yourself once the goal has been reached.

4. Drink smart. Face it, overindulging during holiday events—whether it’s an office party, a family gathering or a neighborhood open house—can add a lot of extra calories to your day. In addition, when you’ve had too much to drink, it tends to weaken your previous resolve and derail any strategies and plans you might have had. Besides, you don’t want to end up as that karaoke-singing family member or neighbor everyone will be talking about for the next month.

5. Trim the calories. This tip is especially useful if you happen to be the primary cook for an event. In baked items, replace the fat with an equal amount of applesauce and the sugar with a sugar substitute; substitute a quarter cup of egg substitute for every egg called for in the recipe; replace whole milk with 1% milk and sour cream with yogurt; reduce the amount of nuts called for by half. And don’t forget both veggies and salad.

6. Enlist support. Trying to maintain your Nutrisystem program can be hard at the holidays, but there’s no reason you have to go it alone. Ask for your family’s understanding or even their help, so nobody’s trying to foist “seconds” on you. Nutrisystem counselors can help you strategize, based on your individual circumstances. Or you can go to the Nutrisystem Discussion Boards, where you’ll find people who definitely understand what you’re trying to do. Discuss your concerns; share tips of your own, or join one of the many weight loss challenges. Some of them are specifically geared to the holidays. Introduce yourself well before the event, so you have that support already in place.

7. Keep moving. Instead of just sitting around after dinner, suggest a family walk, or organize a touch-football game. Most people will be grateful for the chance to move around, and it can keep you on-track with your exercise plan.

8. Embrace the spirit. This last tip may just be the most important: You can get so caught up in all the planning and hoopla that you lose the whole meaning of the holiday season—coming together with friends and loved ones. It’s the time that’s really valuable, not the food and drink.

Such great tips!

Weigh-in time!

I have been working out since joining the YMCA and I love it!

I had been doing some walking here and the elliptical there but wasn’t putting too much effort into it.

Since joining the YMCA I have started doing the AMT Machine (Whoa! I just checked out the exact machine I’m using! On Amazon it goes for $7,799! ) and I LOVE it! It’s such an amazing workout and definitely a challenge. Yet, I find myself pushing myself more on it rather if I had just been on a treadmill.

The other things that is great about it? It has a TV screen and fans! FANS! ;-)

So now it comes to how much I have lost for the week?

I am down .5 for a total weight loss of 23.1 pounds!

I am switching it up a little bit with the Nutrisystem plan for next month after talking to my doctor and the nutritionist with Nutrisystem, so more to come on that later!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Nutrisystem: Week 22

Week 22!

And it’s been a good week!

The weather has been so nice out so we have been spending a lot of time grilling and spending time in the backyard.

Hayden has been obsessed with the soccer ball so I have been getting a lot of exercise playing with him!

I got my new box of Nutrisystem in the mail the other day and I was excited to see some new goodies!

My favorite is the popcorn, which I featured a couple months ago! It has been SO popular so they were out of it this month but I got a ton this time! It’s so good and the perfect snack to much on!

The other goodie I am excited about is the new Nutrisystem Water Bottle.

The bottle is 32 oz. and there is a reminder on it that you just need to drink 2 of the bottles daily to get your water intake in!

So weigh in time!

How much did I lose??

ONE POUND!!!

That brings my total weight loss to 22.6 pounds!

I need to do some measurements because my latest jeans are feeling pretty loose so I’m thinking I lost some inches!

I also joined the YMCA today so I’m looking forward to getting more active!

Woo-hoo!

Nutrisystem Week 20! 5 months down!

I always start every post like “I can hardly believe it’s been xxx weeks on Nutrisystem”.

But it’s true!

And I can hardly believe it’s been 20 weeks on Nutrisystem! 5 months!

It’s definitely been 5 months of ups and downs, temptations and frustration but also 5 months of support, joy and good food!

We got back from Disney World this past Monday and now I’m fighting a bad Upper Respiratory Infection and Bronchitis.

I was pretty confident that I wasn’t going to gain anything during Disney World. Our hotel room was on the 3rd floor and I took the steps almost every time. I wish I had worn a pedometer but after doing some research it is said that on average you can walk up to 20,000 steps at Walt Disney World a day. And I believe it! My feet were so sore at the end of the day and many times I soaked them in the tub or the pool!

While I tried to eat sensibly, it didn’t always work out that way. We visited Via Napoli at Epcot and shared the cheesiest and most delicious pizza I have ever eaten!

I snacked on more soft pretzels that I care to mention. We were treated to a CANDY BAR! Oops, I wasn’t supposed to mention that!

I got to meet 3 other fabulous ladies that are doing the #NSNation program. We even got a picture of us together that I need to get up on here! Make sure to check out Barb of RuralMom.com, Erica of Guide to Military Travel and  Kelly of Kelly’s Lucky You!

When I came home one of the first things I did was weigh myself. And I was so excited when I realized that I hadn’t gained ANYTHING! Amazing!

So I got right back on program. Back to my delicious breakfasts of Veggie Omelets and lunches of Chicken Quesadillas and dinners of good ol’ Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes!

And what happened when I weighed myself today?

I was down 5.3 pounds!

5.3?! Whoa! So what is total weight loss then?!

21.6 pounds!

I am finally past that 20 pound weight loss mark which gets me a second Nutribear! ;-)

I thought I’d share a Before and After picture of 20 pounds. I have so much more to go but I’m proud of the 20 pounds and 3 jean sizes I have dropped!

Before:

After:

So I can tell a bit of a difference! I can’t wait until I have one of those really drastic After pictures! ;-)

Nutrisystem Week 18

I can hardly believe it’s been 18 weeks on Nutrisystem. And I still have 3 more months to go which makes me so happy.

It’s always easier to lose weight in warm weather, isn’t it? Grilled chicken, grilled veggies, refreshing water, long walks….

I am so ready for summer!

Today we are headed to Disney World. We are leaving this afternoon and driving 16 hours to Orlando, Florida. Crazy, huh?

It’s so easy to just eat junk food on a road trip. It’s what we have always done in the past, stopped off at Fast Food places and that will be all we eat.

I am armed with my Nutrisystem food though. In my Tote Bag that will sit up front with me, I’m bringing: Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars, Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars, Cinamon Bun Bars, Chocolate Rainbow Delights (Think M&M’s), Carrot Cake and Blueberry Muffins.

YUM! Perfect snacks for while on the road!

I wanted to share some tips that the amazing @NutriPRMeredith shared with me for traveling on Nutrisystem.

~ Bring your meal planner with you! You can still keep track of what you are eating!

~ Sit down prior to vacation to choose restaurants to eat out at that have a variety of foods to choose from and that give you healthy options. Just be honest with your travel buddies that even though you are excited about the trip and can’t wait, you still want to stay on track with the program.

~ When dining out, remember that it’s okay to order the food cooked the way you want (i.e. salads with certain things not on the salad or on the side, steamed veggies( no oil) etc., grilled not fried etc). It’s okay to even let them know you have food restrictions and they will be sure to accommodate you. (I know Disney is good at this!!!)

~ When eating out, if the portion size is too big (protein sizes should be no more than 6 – 8 oz – about the size of your palm) immediately ask for a to- go-box and put half in the box before eating. That way you don’t overeat and have leftovers too!

~ When I go away, I try to be active – do activities where you walk around and keep busy. (This won’t be hard in Disney, we will be walking miles each day!)

~ Drink water with all your meals – with a nice slice of lemon or lime!

These are fantastic tips! And they are all totally doable!

I’m excited to meet some fellow #NSNation Bloggers on this trip. I’ve already met Kelly of Kelly’s Lucky You at Blissdom. Wish we would have gotten a picture together! I’m excited to see her again!

I’m really excited to meet Erica of Guide to Military Travel and the super cute blog Travels with Sam and also Barb of RuralMom.com!

Okay, so ready for the weekly weigh-in? I was a little bummed because I was up 1 pound.

So that brings it to a total weight loss of 16.3 pounds. When am I going to get over that 20 pound mark???

I’m hoping that I won’t come back from Disney World with a weight gain. I never have before because you are just walking SO much. Plus, I’ll be trying to keep up with an active toddler!

Wish me all luck and I will try to report in next Friday on how it’s going! I’ll have to find access to a scale!
