We are headed to Walt Disney World next month and it’s no surprise that technology is a big part of our trip. I have a dedicated Disney folder on my phone full of apps that I use for planning our trip, during our trip and even after! Check below for my 10 must-have apps for your Disney vacation!
My Disney Experience
My Disney Experience is Disney’s “official” app and it’s a must if you are visiting Walt Disney World. The app features everything from all of your reservation information including hotel and dining, your Fastpass+ info, park hours, where to find characters and even wait times for rides.
I love that I can make dining reservations right from the app – our last trip we were taking the ferry back to our car from the Magic Kingdom and I was able to pull up the app and book us a dinner at Flying Fish for that evening. You can even check out the menu for each restaurant which comes in handy when deciding if there’s something on the menu that your picky kid will eat. NOT that I know that from experience or anything!
There’s also a GPS-enabled map to explore which can be a huge help if you’re new to Walt Disney World!
WDW Countdown
I LOVE waking up and checking my countdown app to see how many days there are until our next trip. The WDW Countdown app lets you use your own image or you can choose from 50+ Disney themed images!
Hidden Mickey App
Have you heard of Hidden Mickeys? Well, they are everywhere! I don’t even just seen them at Walt Disney World now, I see them in my everyday life! The app uses GPS to find where you are in Walt Disney World and then tells you where you’ll find the closest Hidden Mickeys whether you’re in the parks or at a resort. You can have separate profiles hooked up to one account so you can compete against the whole family – who will find the most Hidden Mickeys?!
Beers and Ears
Do you love beer? Do you love beer while wearing ears? Well, my husband and I do and I know we aren’t alone! You might not think so, but Walt Disney World is a great place to discover new beers from a variety of countries. With the Beers and Ears app, you can view the over 150 beers that Walt Disney World offers and check off what you’ve tried. There’s also a map so you can see where they are located throughout Walt Disney World.
Sorcerer Radio
Sorcerer Radio is an app that I regularly listen to – it’s great to work to, cook and clean to and for a dance party with the kids! If you’re really looking to get into the mood for your next Disney trip, download Sorcerer Radio. It plays music from the Disney Parks 24/7. We always drive down to Florida {16 hours!} so it’s great to be able to turn on this music.
Disney Movies Anywhere
Disney Movies Anywhere is a favorite in our family. With the app, you can watch your favorite Disney, Pixar and Marvel movies from any of your devices. If you buy a physical copy of a movie that comes with a digital copy, you can add it to your account and can then watch it…anywhere! You can also download digital only copies too. It’s a great app for the kids to watch their favorite movies while you travel. Check out a more detailed review of Disney Movies Anywhere!
Capturing Magic
This is an app that I recently downloaded and I’m excited to use during our trip. I LOVE taking photos during our vacation and the past few trips I’ve only taken my phone and not my heavier DSLR camera. Capturing Magic makes it easy to get all of those must-take photos while at Walt Disney World. Before you even go, you can make a checklist of photos you want to take like Cinderella’s Castle, the Tree of Life and more! Then, when you take a photo, it will have the location {park name, etc.}, date and names of people in the photo for you. You can also share the photos easily via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Email – and even print them right to a printer that use AirPrint!
I like that the app gives me some great ideas of pictures to take IN the parks and out. They have some great ideas like taking a picture of Mickey balloons, wearing a Disney hat, a high score on a ride and more.
The Instagram app needs to explaining but it’s a must for my Disney trips! I love sharing our experience on social media and when you upload a photo to Instagram, you can then easily share it on Facebook and Twitter. Use the hashtags #Disney and #DisneySide to reach a whole new audience!
Shutterfly
There’s a ton of different places that you can print your photos from but I frequently use Shutterfly. With the app, you can upload photos from your phone and then order prints or even make a photo book right from your phone.
Weather Channel
There’s not much to say about this app. You probably already have it installed on your phone. But this app is a must for us. I’m constantly checking it the days before our trip as I decide what kind of clothes to pack. Then, we are always using the app DURING our trip to check out the radar and forecast because FLORIDA. It seems like it rains at least once a day for just a little bit. The Weather Channel app is a must for any trip!
What kind of Disney apps are a must for your trip?

These are great apps to have on your Disney trip. I wish this technology was available 30 years ago when I was a kid at Disney.

Have never visited Disney and since I do not have children it’s not high on my priority list. As a former Special Ed teacher my idea of a holiday is to be somewhere I won’t find children hanging around! LOL 🙂

Okay, so we are going in May so I’ll have to grab a few of these. Thanks for posting…we are in the planning stages now.
