Last month, I had the chance to visit the set of blackish, which is one of my new favorite shows. I shared with you my interview with Tracee Ellis Ross while on the set and now I want to share a bit more about my experience on set!
The only other time I had been on a set was for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, where we got to watch a scene be filmed and then walk through the set. We got to spend a bit more time walking through the set of blackish and I couldn’t believe how big it was! I kept saying I would totally want to live on this set except for the minor issue of no roof! đ
About blackish
Andre âDreâ Johnson (Anthony Anderson) has a great job, a beautiful wife, Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross), four kids and a colonial home in the âburbs. But has success brought too much assimilation for this black family? With a little help from his dad (Laurence Fishburne), Dre sets out to establish a sense of cultural identity for his family that honors their past while embracing the future.
black-ish stars Anthony Anderson as Dre, Tracee Ellis Ross as Rainbow, Yara Shahidi as Zoey, Marcus Scribner as Andre Jr., Miles Brown as Jack, Marsai Martin as Diane and Laurence Fishburne as Pops.
On the Set of blackish
Tracee took us through a tour of the set and then we had the chance to walk around and take pictures. I wanted to share some pictures with you so you can see the incredible details they have added to the Johnson house!
From a real junk drawer to family pictures on the wall for when the kids were even younger, I absolutely love the attention to details they put into the set. When I recently watched blackish, I loved seeing all of the details that I wouldn’t normally notice because it’s just what makes a house a home!
Watch blackish on Wednesdays at 9:30/8:30 CT
As I mentioned, blackish is one of my new favorite shows and I love that it’s a show that the whole family can watch. My son loves watching it with me and is usually cracking up too. You won’t want to miss tonight’s episode called “Stuff”!
Dre thinks Christmas has become commercialized and is all about âstuff,â and no one loves âstuffâ more than his kids. Pops and Ruby think they have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas and come up with a new plan to pare down gifts and spend more time together. The kids donât handle the news well and hope that if they put on their best behavior Dre and Bow will cave in. Meanwhile, Daphne Lido (played by Wanda Sykes), who is single for her first holiday alone, invites herself to the Johnson family home to celebrate with them.
Donât forget to tune into blackish on ABC. It airs Wednesday nights at 9:30/8:30 CT.
Disclosure: Disney provided an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles including travel, accommodations and activities. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m a fan of this show too. I always thought Anthony Anderson is a hoot! Love Tracee Ellis Ross too.
My husband and I love this show!
