We are supposed to have a hard winter in North Texas, and I have read that most of the country is expecting the same. I know my northern friends (I’m originally from Indiana) are laughing at me because a Texas winter cannot compare to the frozen horrors of the midwest in February; however, Texans are just not prepared for the cold. Last year we had such a bad ice storm that we were stuck in our house for 5 days and we ran out of so many necessities because even once we could get out, the stores couldn’t re-stock fast enough!
This year I’m planning a little better for settling in if we need to. We are spending SO much more time indoors now that our days are shorter (*fist shake at DST*). One thing that helps our HVAC system run more efficiently is a good air filter. Dirty filters impede air flow and reduce the efficiency of the heating and cooling system. The Filtrete Healthy Living Ultimate Allergen Reduction Filter (MPR 1900) captures microscopic particles that can carry viruses and bacteria and helps your system run more efficiently when it’s changed on a regular maintenance schedule (up to 3 months). We change our filters every 45-60 days and I’m always amazed at all the junk it collects in a matter of weeks. It’s actually kind of horrifying – but at least I know the filter is doing it’s job!
The Filtrete Healthy Living Ultimate Allergen Reduction Filter also:
- Attracts and captures 93% of large particles like mold spores and, dust and pollen from the air passing through the filter
- 4x better than ordinary pleated filters*
- Carries a 1900 Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR)
- Attracts and captures microscopic allergens like pet dander, smoke, household dust and microscopic particles that can carry bacteria, viruses and odors
- Almost twice the small particle filtration than our 1000 performance level filter
- Lasts up to 3 months
Also on our winter prep checklist is wrapping pipes under our sink (we have had pipes freeze – SO not fun), replacing the rubber weatherstrip on our back door, and caulking some cracks to keep things airtight. Our windows aren’t the best, so we have to really try in other ways to reduce our heating bill. Changing filters is one of the best ways to do your part in ensuring the system is running at it’s best. What plans do you have to prepare for the coming winter?

We use this brand and sweaar by it. I think the filters last longer and do ao a much better job than the cheaper ones.
A good air filter is a must because it helps keep the dust from blowing in the house and causing sneezing and wheezing problems. This is a very good filter. I think it is the best in keeping my air in my home from dust.
These are awesome filters, works great in filtering the air in the home. My number one picks when getting new air filters.
I would love to get this filter. Thank you for the review!
Then, it’s going to be awfully hard to play one
of those more traditional MMOs ever again, isn’t
it. Check out this page for details on how to get your key.
