Traveling with a small kid may be a challenging experience. From making other people angry in a plane to having to accommodate the entire trip to your child, it can truly be demanding, both on your nerves and your body. On the other side, travelling with your little one can be a wonderful adventure for the entire family. It can be a great learning experience for the child as well. By following our tips, you can be sure that you will get the best journey while haggling your little ones.
Pack light
Having a small kid in your entourage may bring out a packing devil in you which wants to pack everything in sight just in case. The reality is that hauling a large luggage is not quite practical, especially if you have a toddler to take care of as well. To bring the amount of packing to a bare minimum we advise you to use a packing list consisting only of the most essential items like girls shoes. When it comes to diapers for example, there is no need to pack to excess. Just bring the amount you need for the flight and maybe an extra day. We assure you, you can buy diapers everywhere. To illustrate, there is no shortage of baby products in Singapore!
Try to book a direct flight
When flying we have to be aware of other people that are on the plane as well. Flying can be an anxiety inducing experience for adults too, just as much it is for the babies. If you’ve ever been on a plane you know how much pressure is put on your ears, especially during landing. Now, can you imagine how confusing and painful it may be for a baby? Since infants and some toddlers have no other way of expressing their feelings but to cry, you need to put the number of flights to a bare minimum in order to protect both your ears and your baby’s. If, however, there is no way to book a direct flight try to get a flight with a longer layover time so your baby can recover from the previous experience. You will also need some time to change their diapers and feed them and of course you and your partner will need some well deserved resting time too.
Rent a car with a car seat
Now that you’ve successfully gotten to your destination you will need to get from point A to point B in your destination of choice as well. The easiest way to get around is to rent a car but keep in mind, you have a small kid with you so your rental choices are a bit more limited. Some rental places may expect you to have your own with you but the reality is they are pretty hard to travel with. Since not every rental place carries car seats, it is for the best to research the rental places in the area you’re planning to visit in advance in order to avoid uncomfortable situations. If cars aren’t the preferred method of travel at your destination, get around by train or a subway. It is the safest way to travel with a baby since most of the taxis or ubers don’t come with an installed car seat suitable for a small child.
Choose your accommodation wisely
Renting a place or staying in a hotel is always a question when traveling. Now, when choosing your preferred accommodation you have to consider the needs of your infant. To be frank, there is no right or wrong answer, you just have to make sure that the place has everything you need. If you’d like to have housekeeping, go for a hotel, but if you don’t want to be cooped up in one room opt for AirBnB. Whether you finally decide to stay in an AirBnB or a hotel, make sure that you remember to ask in advance for them to provide you with a crib. Some may not be able to arrange for you to have one, putting you into a situation to bring your own with you.
