Traveling to exciting new destinations with your family is always a lot of fun, but usually it’s only fun after you actually arrive at your destination.
The process of traveling to that destination can often be a major hassle and stressful, especially if you have small kids in tow.
Here are five hacks for your international family travel trip:
Hack #1 – Pack Light
There’s a golden rule that you’ll probably only need around half of what you initially pack. Packing light is good because it means you have less weight to haul around, and it can just help to make your trip a less stressful experience for you.
At the same time, there are essential items that you probably won’t be able to do without, such as baby wipes, bottles, or entertainment items to name a few things, and you won’t want to sacrifice those essentials even as you do try to pack as lightly as possible.
Hack #2 – Have A Variety of Entertainment Options For Your Kids
Toys, puzzles, books, apps, games, movies, TV shows…only you know your kids, but chances are good that they are going to need a variety of entertainment options throughout the course of the trip. Bring a variety, and don’t reveal all of them at once.
Hack #3 – Carry Cash
Carrying cash on your person is always smart for a number of reasons. You’re going to need to pay tips, for luggage carts, snacks and drinks at the vending machines, and so on.
It’s also important that you carry cash in the currency of the country you’re traveling to. You can attain that cash by converting your money into another currency with a remittance service, and then sending the money to yourself.
Hack #4 – Bring Plastic Bags (Lots of Them)
If your kids are particularly young, then bringing plenty of grocery plastic bags will be al lifesaver. You can use them for dirty laundry, for trash, for used diapers, and for anything else that you need to throw away or otherwise keep stored.
Hack #5 – Get Enough Downtime In
Finally, it’s important to remember that it’s perfectly fine to take naps and have downtime on your trip. You don’t have to be doing something every single second of your life on the trip. Doing so will only make you all feel more exhausted, which will reduce the quality of your trip as a whole.
Take note that you don’t have to get downtime at your hotel room. You can also get it a local coffee shop or public park, so you’ll still be able to explore the area a little even when you’re feeling tired.
