There’s a lot of reasons why I love St. Louis, but one of my favorite things is that there is SO much to do with kids! So much that it even inspired me to start the site STLwithKids.com! With a 7 year old and 2 year old twins, we are always looking for fun places to visit in St. Louis so I wanted to share with you my top 5!
I love Grant’s Farm not only because it’s so close to where I live but because of all that there is to see there. I’ve written about Grant’s Farm many times before but in case you haven’t been there before, Grant’s Farm is the 281-acre ancestral home of the Busch family {yes, Anhuser-Busch!}, and is home to more than 900 animals representing more than 100 different species. The Farm takes its name from Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. In the 1850s, Grant founded and farmed a portion of the 281 acres.
I love that I’m visiting something so historic and the kids love all of the animals there is to see – like elephants, camels, goats {you can feed them too!}, birds and of course, Clydesdale’s! There’s also a great selection of food and adults get 2 free beer samples! 😉 It’s great fun for the whole family!
The Magic House is another great favorite of our family! The Magic House is a children’s museum whose mission is to provide children with hands-on learning experiences that encourage experimentation, creativity and the development of problem-solving skills within a place of beauty, wonder, joy, and magic. It’s also one of the best free things to do in St Louis, offering families an enriching experience without costing a dime.
The Magic House opened in 1979 and I grew up going here. I love the fact that my kids are growing up visiting here too – although A LOT of things have been added since I was little! It’s definitely a fun experience and a must if you have little ones in St. Louis.
I fully believe that the Saint Louis Zoo is one of the best Zoo’s in the country. It’s made even better by the fact that it’s FREE. You can pay for parking but there’s always free parking close by. Some exhibit do cost but you could spend a whole day there without spending any money, especially if you bring a lunch from home!
The Saint Louis Zoo is located on 90 acres in Forest Park and is home to more than 560 species of animals, many of them rare and endangered. Some of our favorite exhibits that are a must-see? The Penguins and Puffins, Sea Lion Sound and our brand new polar bear!
It’s no denying that St. Louis is a baseball town. You must bring your child to a ballgame at least once and it’s surprisingly very kid-friendly! I wrote a post about everything you need to know about taking kids to a Cardinals game – it’s definitely an experience you won’t want to miss out on with your little one!
It’s most likely that your baby or toddler likes things that GO, right? The Museum of Transportation is a great place for them then! You can push your stroller or let your little ones run around as you explore the train yard and actually have the chance to climb aboard! You can even have the chance to hop aboard the miniature train for a ride or the trolley!
There’s also the Creation Station which is for kids 5 and under – it’s a hands-on learning environment dedicated to introducing children five-and-under to all modes of transportation while focusing on developing and enriching the primary early learning skills.
Bonus – You gotta visit the St. Louis Arch, just because! Some kids maybe bored of the history stuff down below, but you have to make the trip up at least once! They are doing a lot of construction right now, but the grounds will be pretty amazing when done!
If you’re coming to St. Louis with your little ones, those are just a few places I suggest on visiting! I think you’ll have a great time – I know we do!

I had the opportunity to travel to St. Louis a couple years ago for work and stayed right across from the arch. But, I have yet to be there with my kids! These look like some great adventures to do with all three of mine.

When I was younger, we lived in Tulsa, OK and had to drive through STL every year to get to MI. Sometimes we would stop and see some sights. I remember being so amazed by the arch when I was little.
