I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for L’il Critters. I received product sample to facilitate my review and promotional item as a thank you for participating.
2 out of my 3 kids are picky eaters. That surprises me since both my husband and I aren’t icky but I know that all kids go through a phase of being a picky eater. With my 6 year old son though, his phase has been just a little longer. His pediatrician has recommended that we just make him a meal and if he doesn’t want to eat what’s there, he doesn’t eat at all. While we have tried that a few times, I’m just not that strong-willed to let him go without a meal. Below are some of my tips for feeding picky eaters!
Get your Child Involved
Whenever we head to the grocery store and we are among the fruits and veggies, I always let my son pick out something new. He’ll choose something that he usually thinks looks cool, put it into a bag and then the cart. When he gets home, I’ll have him try the new food. This is where he discovered he likes cantelope and kiwi. We are still working on veggies!
Show Enthusiasm
Kids learn by example and that goes with eating habits too. My husband and I are trying to eat better, especially in front of our kids. I love green smoothies and try to have them in the mornings. My son would see me drinking them and asked to try them. He ended up not liking it too much but he saw me drinking it and wanted to try it. Show enthusiasm for eating fruits, veggies and other foods you want your child to try!
Sneaky, Sneaky
My son loves eggs so that is when I try to sneak in some veggies – usually spinach with some cheese. Another favorite of his is Mac and Cheese so I’ll usually chop up some zucchini and mix it in there. He doesn’t notice most of the time and get some veggies in! I’ve also seen some pasta sauce made with a large amount of veggies too that I’d like to try.
Meal Time Fun
Sometimes, the way you present your child’s meal can make all the difference. Putting your child’s lunch or dinner in muffin tins can make a huge difference! Theming a meal after your child’s favorite show or movie could make all the difference! For inspiration, check out Pinterest – there’s so many ideas!
L’il Critters Vitamins
When all of the above fails because you’ve got a REALLY picky eater, you still want to make sure that your child is getting a balanced diet. That is why every morning I make sure that Hayden takes a L’il Critters vitamin. There’s no need for the drama of trying to get your child to swallow a pill {No? Just me?} or a gross, fishy taste. Instead, L’il Critters delivers the nutrition your child needs in a delicious gummy form. I’ve tried them myself and evn I agree that taking vitamins in gummy form just tastes better!
L’il Critters Vitamins are also made from all natural flavors and made right here in the USA. Products range from L’il!Critters® Gummy Vites™ to L’il Critters Calcium Gummy Bears. We have tried both varieties and they both get a thumbs up from my son! As a growing boy, I love giving him the L’il Critters Calcium + VitaminD3 Gummy Bears to help his bones. Gummy Bears are Hayden’s favorite candy so the fact that L’il Critters has the same taste and texture – but all of the vitamins he needs is a thumbs up from me!
L’il Critters Gummy Vitamins are available at drug and grocery stores nationwide including Costco, Target, Walmart and CVS. For more information, visit the L’il Critters website!
