Many parents are eager to celebrate their toddler’s birthday by throwing a party worth remembering. However, when you’ll be having guests, you need to be well prepared for it and have the right plan in hand. In order to make a party successful in its own way (while all the kids behave properly), see to it that you have many activities planned out along with tasty party food and fun favor bags for all the guests. Let’s look into a few simple tips on how you can throw a toddler birthday party that is not only fun, but also memorable:
#1: Create the Guest List: One of the key things that you need to get clear about is how the party is going to be. Since it’s your toddler’s birthday party, you should ensure that it does not turn out to be a chaotic affair in any way. So choose to invite a selected few little with their parents along with their siblings.
#2: Know When it Starts and Ends: Now, when you’re throwing a birthday party where other toddlers will be invited, you don’t want it to start late and end late. Be sure of the beginning and ending time of your party. It’s a good idea to have these times match with the other children’s nap schedules so that all the little guests have napped well.
#3: Choose a Theme: Does the birthday boy or girl have a favorite cartoon character? Then try to create the theme around it. And if there is no “favorite”, then go ahead and select a generic theme such as butterflies, puppies, fairies, etc. Once you have the theme decided you can then buy party supplies that go with it. For example, if the theme is colorful and vibrant, buy some party lights to decorate along with balloons, hats and utensils.
#4: Determine the Menu: When it comes to planning the menu for your toddler’s party, it’s always better to keep it simple with appetizers and finger foods spread on a buffet table. You can have all the food set out along with the paper plates, utensils and of course, the cake placed prominently on the table.
#5: Organize Party Games: It’s a good idea to go for more games than you have time for because it helps you stay prepared for anything that might come up at the birthday party. Some games that are appropriate for toddlers include a bean bag toss, London Bridge, indoor bowling, etc. They’ll have loads of pent up energy that needs releasing, so consider getting a pinata from any good party supplies store. You’ll find loads of great options that fit with the party theme too – like Disney pinatas, Bluey pinatas and much more!
#6: Assemble Party Favor Bags: Finally, you don’t want to skip on those nice party favor bags that the guests can take with them home. What do you have these bags? If you had a themed birthday party then you can have small gifts/items that go with the theme. And if there wasn’t any theme chosen then you can have small toys placed in the bags that the children will enjoy. Remember, these party favors are passed out to the guests at the end of the party, not in the beginning.

I like the idea of scheduling the time(s)..some of my friends always used to throw their kids’ parties during nap time and I never understood why. I also like the idea of indoor games (and they’re pretty much free or cheap)

these are great tips. I didn’t use to give goodie bags to kids until my kids last birthday where are require no presents. I have four kids and this is the second years that I celebrate two parties together.
