We have been working hard at getting our basement finished and I feel like it is so close to being done. We have the drywall up, the electrical outlets in place and the carpet picked out. We have made lots of changes since our original vision earlier this year so I’m excited to see how it will all turn out.
We had originally planned on dividing our open unfinished basement into a few rooms – a laundry room, bathroom, playroom and then a giant living space for us to spend most of our time in. Well, we decided to cut some of our budget and while we are keeping the laundry room and bathroom, we have decided to nix the kid’s playroom and have one big open living space. The more I’ve been thinking though, I still want some kind of divider between the play area and the area where we will have our television and my work desk. After researching online, I came across the idea of accordian room dividers.
I’m thinking that this is a great option for when my husband and I want to get some work done or watch a television show that isn’t for little ones. We can just pull close the accordion doors and it becomes its own little room! Plus, with kids you know that it is going to get really messy so the doors are great for when you are having company over and you don’t have time to clean!
I love the idea of the accordion doors because you get them completely customized in the color you want and the specifications that you need. Plus, since we are trying to finish our basement ourselves and keep the cost down, we can install them ourselves! It’s going to be great to have the option of an instant wall to divide ourselves from the kid’s toys without having to have a permanent wall and door up!
