Do you know Snapcrafty? You should! They have the most amazing selection of jewelry making supplies! That sounds less than exciting but Snapcrafty is REALLY amazing; there are currently over 1,000 listings in Snapcrafty’s Etsy store! I placed an order for a set of tiny cabochon roses to make my daughter some little girl earrings, but I wanted certain colors – no problem! And Snapcrafty ships really fast so I received my supplies within a few days of placing the order on Etsy. A fantastic selection of lovely jewelry making supplies – I knew I was in love!
The woman behind Snapcrafty is Sandra. And besides having an eye for lovely and whimsical jewelry, she also has a most interesting Etsy bio:
For the last 10 years of my life I have been a scientist, first studying entomology and later genetics. For fun I designed jewelry in my little online shop called ‘Snapcrafty’. In 2007, I closed my shop’s doors when I finished graduate school to concentrate on my career.
After doing postdoctoral research in genetics for several years, I came to the realization that science just wasn’t for me. The constant stress, the long hours, the uber-competitive environment was too much.
Then I initiated steps to change my life almost as though my subconscious knew I was ready to leave my field before I did: I opened an Etsy supply shop one day to de-stash some supplies left over from my jewelry business days. To my delight, it started doing pretty well. Soon I was making daily sales and began purchasing more supplies to sell.
Several months later, I left my job as a post-doc. Almost by accident, I had landed on the perfect solution: to begin, in earnest, my own jewelry supply business. This path would allow me to use both the management and research skills I learned over the course of graduate school as well as my love of jewelry design and vintage beads.
Each item is sold in varying quantities, depending on the item. The larger the lot, the lower the cost per item. Sandra usually allows you to specify what color-so you can mix and match within the lot. You will also need the very smelly, but holds-like-cement E6000 glue. The instructions are easy: apply a small amount to each surface, wait until tacky (2-10 minutes), adhere and let dry! You will also find numerous settings, bails, hairpins, rings, earring posts, chains and more at Snapcrafty!
I knew I had to share how fabulous Snapcrafty is with you! I sent an email to Sandra and let me just show you a few pictures of what became of the very lovely supplies that she sent me:
These sweet little rings worked out to around $1.58 per ring! They sell for $15 already made in some Etsy stores!
Aren’t these hairpins gorgeous! Can you believe that they will only cost you $1.05-$1.55 to make yourself?! It’s too good, right?
This set of smaller cabochon hairpins was my favorite. I would love one in every color/style! And why not when they only cost about 84 cents to make!
The little earring posts go for $12-15 when they can be made for less than a dollar! (I feel a little like I am running an exposé!)
The silver plated spoon bails cost 26 cents each. The Sakura and Chrysanthemum flowers are about 54 cents each and you can buy delicate Icing Roses for 18 cents each.

I discovered I really love this new hobbby beading because I get to be creative and I have a unique gift to friends and family that I can personally make and it gives them happiness.
