I can hardly believe that my little guy is already back in school. It seems like the summer just flew by and now I have a second grader! The last few weeks have been a whirlwind as we have been getting ready for school and our house organized after the lazy days of summer.
I’m the kind of Mom that wants to know how my son’s ENTIRE day was so I learned pretty fast that you can’t simply ask- how was your day? If I want to get my 7 year old to tell me the latest playground drama, what his favorite thing he learned was and who he sat next to at lunch, I’ve got to get specific and creative with questions.
Here are a few questions I have up my sleeve to ask Hayden when he gets home. Try them and I guarantee you’ll get your little one talking too.
What was your favorite thing that happened today at school?
Tell me one thing you learned today.
What was your favorite part of recess?
What made you the happiest today?
What’s the silliest thing that happened today? (My son loves anything silly!)
To celebrate the end of the first week of school, I set up an After-School Snack Bar featuring Snack Pack® pudding and fun mix-ins like cereal, cookies, candy and marshmallows.
While enjoying a fun afternoon snack, it’s the perfect time to connect with your child and talk about their day at school. I set up the snack bar in the kitchen and let Hayden go to town adding fun mix-ins into the Snack Pack® puddings!
We had so much fun putting together different Snack Pack® combinations. We had both chocolate and vanilla Snack Pack® pudding to create with. My son loved adding crushed cookies and gummy worms to his pudding while I liked adding cookies and marshmallows! We loved our spoonful of fun!
The sky is the limit when deciding what mix-ins you want for your Snack Pack® pudding! I had so much fun deciding on fun ingredients to add in for our After-School Snack Bar and can’t wait to try some new stuff next time! This is the perfect treat to celebrate a great week at school!
This back to school season, take a moment to slow down and enjoy a tasty and fun treat with the kids.
