Back to School with Tiny Prints

This year my oldest, my sweet and spunky little girl will be going to kindergarten. In just a few days she will scoop up her butterfly covered backpack, maybe allow me just one more hug and shuffle out the door in the sparkly new school shoes that she just can’t wait to wear. She is incredibly excited about school! She loads up her pint-size backpack with library books and treks back and forth across the yard to see what walking to school will be like. She has been practicing writing her name-sometimes embellished with all sorts of curls and other fancy swooshes. I can’t believe she will be a kindergartener! She will learn and grow so much this year and I want to remember everything!

So I am adding a new tradition to the typical “to-do” list of shopping for back-to-school clothes, finding all the required classroom supplies and setting the alarm clock a bit earlier.

I’m going to prepare a page for my scrapbook of the things I want to remember: her height, her hand writing and her sweet little hand print. A few fun interview questions, and of course a picture of her on the first day of school!

And now I’m getting a little teary-eyed sentimental over the fact my daughter will walk out the door a little girl and come back a “big kindergartner” with many new friends requesting play dates, stories of what happened at recess and how Ms. Teacher is the coolest teacher ever!
