It is difficult for modern moms to imagine cleaning a room without a vacuum cleaner. In stores, the choice of vacuum cleaners is huge but the question is: which vacuum cleaner to buy and how? Here are some tips from experts for any mom to help them clean the floors easily:
Suction power
Most vacuum cleaners indicate the maximum and average effective suction power. Maximum power is achieved in the first few minutes of the vacuum cleaner, so attention should be paid to the average effective suction power (it can be less than the maximum suction power by 15-30%). With more suction power, the vacuum cleaner will produce more efficient suction of dust and debris.
Filter efficiency
The number and type of filters determine the quality of indoor air cleaning. But there is a certain pattern: the more effective the filter, the greater its resistance and lower suction power, but cleaner the air in the room.
Recently, vacuum cleaners use HEPA filters. HEPA filters are made of a special porous material based on fiberglass. They effectively trap dust particles up to 0.3 microns in size, which contain the most harmful substances to the human body and can pass through other filters. The disadvantage of HEPA filters is the rather high price and the need to replace them after a certain time of operation.
Type and volume of dust collector
There are vacuum cleaners for dry cleaning rooms, in which you can use both paper and textile dust bags. For continuous cleaning, use paper dust bags, and textile dust bags remain in reserve, in case the paper runs out. The advantages of replaceable paper dust bags are that when they are used, contact with dust is excluded, they last for a long time, since they are quite capacious. The only drawback is that from time to time you will need to buy new bags. The textile dust collector is only able to collect large dust particles. If other filters installed in the vacuum cleaner are not effective enough, then fine dust will still get into the air. By holding this dust in, the filters will often become clogged and will also have to be changed frequently. In sum, this can come out even more expensive than the purchase of replaceable paper dust bags.
An aqua filter can be used as a dust collector. Such vacuum cleaners have a special tank in which water is poured. The intake air, along with dirt and dust, passes through the water in such a way that dirt and dust remain in the water and the air exits, passing through additional filters. Thus, an effective cleaning of the exhaust air is achieved not only from large, but also from the smallest dust particles, which is of no small importance for people suffering from allergic diseases, and simply for those who care about their family’s health. The cleaning process with such a vacuum cleaner is a little more time-consuming, because it is impossible to leave the vacuum cleaner after cleaning without pouring dirty water. After cleaning, drain dirty water, rinse and dry the parts of the water tank. Water must be poured into the tank, as vacuum cleaners with an aqua filter do not work without water.
Recently, vacuum cleaners without a bag for collecting dust with an independent compartment for collecting waste have appeared on sale and even become fashionable. The design of these vacuum cleaners (they are called cyclones) uses the so-called cyclonic system. It acts on the principle of a tornado: all dust under the influence of a spiral-swirling air flow settles in a plastic dust collector, which is made transparent for a greater effect.
The advantage of such a vacuum cleaner is that it is extremely easy to use, since there is no need to purchase dust bags or fill in water and clean it after each cleaning. You only need to clean the dust bag as it is full. The disadvantages include the fact that with this system it is difficult to maintain a high suction power, since cyclonic swirling of air helps to reduce the suction power. In addition, the cyclone is not able to retain more than 96% of the mud particles. Therefore, in modern models, carbon and HEPA filters are additionally inserted.
