What is better than a warm spring evening, the quiet of your backyard and a good friend to share a glass of wine with after a long day? Not much in my opinion!
It is a wonderful thing that my best friend also happens to be my neighbor. We take turns-her backyard and I bring the wine, mine and she brings the wine. Last weekend I had something special for us to try!
It was the NEW Pinot Grigio from Brancott Estates “Flight Song.” We were pleasantly surprised by how citrusy refreshing it was! Perfect for the warm almost summer-like night. She liked the floral notes combined with delicious fruity undertones. We guessed correctly that it was peach, but had to check out Brancott Estate’s website for the rest: nashi pear, guava and sweet lemon gave it the fresh citrus zest. My friend loves a light wine and this was excellent for her-I may have just found the perfect birthday gift!
Besides a wonderfully relaxing chat with a good friend, there are many moments in life that call for a great glass of wine! A celebration, a fantastic dinner and the occasional date! Every week my husband and I try to have a “date night in.” We have three young children and it’s hard to line up a babysitter. We choose a few exciting cheeses and whatever fruit looks ripe and delicious in the produce aisle. My husband and I have been able to enjoy and learn a lot about wine-the differences in the varieties and also what we prefer. Softball and t-ball really wore the kids out on Tuesday, so we were able to have our little date night then.
Brancott Estates “Flight Song” Sauvignon Blanc was delicious with our chevre, smoked gouda and crisp Gala apples. The lemon acidity gave it an exciting kick. Pink grapefruit and passionfruit aromas made it a sweeter selection-but sweet in a fresh way. We loved it and this Sauvignon Blanc will definitely be in our date night rotation!
In addition to being refreshing and delectable, it is also crafted to be 20% lighter in calories compared to the 2012 Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. So you can swish, sip and relish with less calories!
