The love for Captain America is pretty big in our household. I had the chance to interview Captain America himself last year before Avengers: Age of Ultron came out it’s a perfectly normal day in our household when my son spends the day dressed up as him.
When I heard about the new movie Captain America: Civil War coming out, I immediately knew that I would be #TeamCap! I made these Captain America Cupcakes in honor of the new movie coming out and they were a huge hit with the whole family.
Captain America Cupcakes
I’m going to fully admit that I made these vanilla cupcakes from a box. Hey – I like easy and simple! If you’re looking for a good vanilla cupcake from scratch, check this one out but I’m all about the box cakes sometimes. Now, I did make the frosting from scratch – the recipe for that is below!
Vanilla Frosting Ingredients
2 sticks butter, room temp
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Vanilla Frosting Directions
In large mixing bowl, beat butter on medium speed until smooth.
Gradually add in powdered sugar, mixing at the same time.
Add in the vanilla extract and then beat in more powdered sugar.
Frost the cupcakes! I usually use a Wilton tip but with these, I used a butter knife since I would be adding so much to the cupcakes.
White Chocolate Stars
This was another super simple thing to make. All I did was take white chocolate chips and melt them in a bowl in the microwave. Once it was completely melted, I spread it smooth onto a pan covered with a silicon mat {you could also use wax paper}. Then, refrigerate it until right before you’re ready to serve the cupcakes.
Take the pan of white chocolate out of the fridge. Using a small star cookie cutter, press down until the cookie cutter is completely filled. Pull up and then push out – you’ll have a perfect white chocolate star!
Decorating the Captain America Cupcakes
To decorate the Captain America Cupcakes, you’ll need blueberries, strawberries and the white chocolate stars. I cut the strawberries into small pieces and once the cupcakes were frosted, I started decorating. You’ll want to alternate the blueberries and strawberries because you’re aiming to make it look like Cap’s shield.

But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in twocamps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” opens in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2016.
