One of my goals for 2014 is to take better photos. I have had a DSLR camera for about 3 years now but I’ve never really learned how to use it. I’m always shooting on auto and whenever I switch to manual, I get frustrated. I know there are a TON of tutorials out there so I just need to find the time to sit down and read them. I’m also hoping to hopefully take a local photography class that will teach me to take better photos of my kids.
I’m excited to be participating in the Catch The Moment 365 Project which is hosted by Nurse Loves Farmer, Behind the Camera and Dreaming and Simply Stavish. Most of these pictures are taken with my DSLR but a few with my iPhone because that is what I happened to have on me at the moment. I did play with some filters in PicMonkey on some of them too.
I’m hoping to keep this going for the whole year and I’ll hopefully learn more about using my DSLR!

I love all your pictures!! Your kids are so cute. The funny thing with me is that I have a DSLR camera and just downgraded to a point & shoot – I was tired of lugging that heavy camera around 🙂

What a great challenge for you. I wished I had a DSLR – that’s on my wish list. Keep up the good work here!!
Amy @ Marvelous Mommy says
Such cuties! My daughter has the same pj set – the yellow top with the horsey pants! As far as shooting on manual, I would try to start with shooting on half manual first. Like the AV setting – the camera will set your shutter speed and you can set your aperture. Start with it wide open. So switch your camera to AV and lower the number as much as you can (like 3.5 or 2.8 or 2.0 or 1.8). The lower the number the more light you will let in. (Manual is kinda overrated, lots of pros shoot on AV or TV, especially when you’re not in a studio with lighting)

the best way to learn the camera is NOT to use auto. play, play play. don’t try to learn it all at once, either!
also the girls are getting so much HAIR! my babies were bald till they were about 3

So cute! I love the little one in the pink with the smile! The two little teeth poking through in the top definitely makes that picture. Can’t wait to see more of your gorgeous little ones.

I am in the same boat, trying to shoot in auto only but this time of year is tricky since it’s dark by the time I get home from work. Anyway, love your pictures and especially the one of the teething baby just cheesin’ away. Precious!
