When my son was about 4 years old, he was in the bathroom with me while I was looking in the mirror. Not thinking, I said out loud that I hated the way I looked – my hair was limp, my complexion was a mess and I just felt blah. He looked up at me and said that he thought I was beautiful. It was at that moment that I realized I had to not only build up my child’s self-esteem but that I had to have good self-esteem myself to be a good role model for my kids. When I had my twin girls, I knew that I wanted them to grow up with self-confidence and to know that they are beautiful – both inside and outside. The same goes for my son, too!
