So many times, there’s talk about creating a Back to School morning routine for kids. But the start of a new school year is a big change for parents too. Even though I work at home, I enjoyed sleeping in a little longer during the summer months with my kids and enjoying a slower morning. With Hayden in first grade and having to get him ready plus 18 month old Olivia and Evie up at the same time, mornings are rushed and I’ve barely had time to get myself ready. It was time to create a morning routine for myself and here’s what has been working for me!
Back to School Morning Routine for Mom
– Get ready the night before.I’ve read it time and time again but it wasn’t until that first week where I was rushing to find something for my son to wear, make his lunch and make breakfast for the whole family that I realized I needed to start getting ready the night before. Now, I lay out outfits {for me too!} and get lunch ready so I’m not so rushed in the morning.
– This might be a no brainer, but parents need to go to bed earlier too! In the summer, I tended to stay up later but now that I have to get up early, I’ve had to adjust my bedtime. Those first few mornings with my alarm going off was a definite shock! Now, I settle into bed a little earlier and make sure to turn off the electronics so I can fall asleep quicker.
– Wash your face! I don’t know about you, but when I wash my face in the morning, it really wakes me up and gets me going. I’ve been using the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit each morning. Not only does it clean my face and helped clear up my complexion, it also gives me a kick in the morning with the smell of grapefruit, which I love!
– Get your caffeine in. When I was pregnant with my twins, I gave up soda which is how I got my caffeine in – it kept me going. After they were born, I started drinking coffee and now I’m addicted to it! I’ve been doing a low carb for about 6 weeks now which means so sugar for me. Instead, I use SPLENDA® Sweetener for my coffee which means I’m skipping the carbs but still getting some sweetness in my coffee. It would be great with tea too!
– Do something just for you. Whether it’s getting a quick exercise in, 30 minutes of reading, coffee on the porch or whatever will put you in a good mood for the day!

I like the Healthy Essentials because they are great products. My favorite is the Listerine and Aveeno products. They work so well on my skin. And I love how Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit helps me with my skin. It smells so good.

My morning routine starts the night before when I try to get everything ready that I can.
