A Day of Yes with Capri Sun

When I head to the grocery store by myself, it feels like a vacation. I wander down the aisles in no hurry, check the labels on food that I’m grabbing and let people go in front of me when it’s a long line and they don’t have very much. When I bring the kids with me to the grocery store, it’s a whole different story. Usually they are always begging for small toys or sugary snacks and I’m always having to say NO. Since saying yes was so easy to this question, I decided how fun would it be to have a Day of Yes with my kids? So many times I’m saying no or maybe later to them. How fun would it be to go ahead and say yes?

Hayden is in 4th grade and Olivia and Evie are in Pre-K. After I pick them up from school, we usually head home to do homework and get settled in for the evening. My kids know I don’t really like to do much stuff on a school night and even though they always ask, I say no. This time, I decided I was going to say yes to them! When we ran into Walmart to pick up some groceries and my son asked if he could look at the toys, I said YES! I normally get tired of them wandering up and down the aisles looking at every toy, but today I enjoyed watching their enthusiasm and joy as they looked at all of the fun things!

When we got home, my son did his homework like usual. We usually have a no electronics after 6pm rule but the kids will sometimes beg to watch a movie as a family. Most times I’ll say no and tell them to play or color or read, but what about just saying YES? Then we are making fun memories as a family as we get cozy on the couch, giggling together watching our latest favorite family movie.
