Summer is quickly approaching and I can’t wait to start entertaining. We have a huge backyard, so we love having friends and family over for BBQs. Now that the weather is a lot nicer, we have started cleaning up our backyard a bit and getting my son’s toys out and cleaned. Last year we purchased a new patio set and a BBQ pit, so we are ready for some parties!
One of my favorite things to do after a fun BBQ with friends is sit outside in our backyard after the sun goes down. We like to light our tiki torches and our fire pit and sit around as we tell stories and make s’mores. Now that my son and his friends are older, they like to stay outside and play in the dark but a lot of our backyard isn’t lit very well. That’s why I’ve decided to decorate our trees and patio with Christmas Lights this summer!
My husband is a big fan of using colored Christmas Lights, but I absolutely adore the look of white lights twinkling in the backyard. If you’re thinking of getting some right now, but can’t find any in-store, you can click here to find a good variety of Christmas Lights offered and they can be sent right to your home!
Once you have your lights, there is so much you can do! Wrap them around tree trunks, hang them from tree to tree, put them in mason jars or even create a wall of white twinkle lights to brighten up your patio or backyard. You could even lay down strands of lights to create a lighted pathway in your backyard or front yard for a party.

Have you used Christmas Lights to decorate your backyard in the summer?
I love the white lights in the mason jar idea. I have never seen anything like that before. I have to have my husband come up with a way to hang these in my backyard. Thanks for sharing!
Love this and wish I could decorate it like this!
I LOVE this look!
I haven’t used the lights, but it’s a great idea~
So pretty! I’ve seen other people doing this and I love this idea!
I have never used Christmas lights on my house other than Christmas times but I like this idea, I might have to do this.
I have solar Christmas lights from target that are strung up on my patio. I love it because it provides just a bit of lighting at night and I don’t incur an extra electric usage.
This sounds like a lot of fun! I recently moved to a backyard that is perfect for entertaining.
I love the look when there is outdoor lighting. It really makes the area look magical!
While I don’t like white lights, I think strings of blue or purple lights would be just fab!
Great idea!! Love the clear lights too! 🙂
I think this looks really good. I have always wanted to do this
I love the look too! I would love to put them around the trees but I worry about all the wires on the ground so I use a bunch of tiki torches. One of these days I’m going to get some hot chili pepper lights though lol
I love lights in the backyard! I have some strung on my deck.
