This review was so much fun! My kids had never seen PetCakes before, so going for an element of surprise, I kept them in the box and put them in the backyard. An “I wonder what ever is in that box?”sent my kids tearing out the slider.
They literally squealed with delight when they spied the sprinkle and cherry decked “frosted” cupcake tops peeking out at them! They were instantly in love!
These cuddly plush toys have adorable little faces and fantastic detail-from the acorn on “Nutty Nicky” to the cupcake wrappers that they pop right out of!
You can read on the PetCakes website an interesting story about how Fred Catapano started Well Made Toy Manufacturing Corporation in 1966 with just a $1,000 loan and two sewing machines. In 2010, he introduced PetCakes! Matt Nuccio of Design Edge partnered with Well Made Toy Manufacturing Corporation on this all-new PetCakes brand. The website also shows pictures of the various PetCakes available:
Series 1 Limited Collectibles: Coco-Coconut the Poodle, Randy Candy the Mutt, Twinkles Sprinkles the Beagle and Blueberry Buddy the Sharpei.
Series 2 Limited Collectibles: Bamboo Berry the Panda, Honey Cakes the Bear, Nutty Nicky the Squirrel and Roco Coco the Racoon.
Mini Series 1: Four miniture sculptures of your favorite Series 1 Limited Collectibles.
We were sent the lovable Series 2 PetCakes.
I love that they are so well made and the attention to detail in the design. The tags come with the individual backstory of each animal. My kids loved hearing me read these to them. Each are super cute in their own way. My daughter fell in love with Roco Coco. She loved his striped, fluffy tail and declared him “positively huggable”! My son claimed Nutty Nicky as his own. He said what he liked best was that Nicky was “having his lunch”, pointing to the stuffed acorn between his paws. They were inseparable the rest of the night!
PetCakes would make a wonderful birthday gifts-kids love animals! They would make great rewards for doing chores or good behavior. And their size is perfect to take along on trips!
It really is no wonder that PetCakes were named in “Time to Play” magazine as one of the top ten stuffed animals. PetCakes are made for ages 3 and up. Each PetCakes is sold separately for approximately $14.99 each. The Mini Series sells for approximately $11.99. You can purchase them at the PetCakes online store or Toys R Us!
My kids love their PetCakes and I think that your kids will enjoy them as well!
