Last weekend we had a chance to get a sneak peek of Despicable Me 2, in theaters now! Our family is a huge fan of the first Despicable Me, we regularly go around the house shouting Freeze Ray or Oh, Yeah!
In Despicable Me 2, Gru is back and happy being Dad to Agnes, Edith and Margo. He’s throwing elaborate birthday parties while neighbors are trying to set him up on dates. But something may be missing from his life…
Gru is recruited by the AVL {Anti-Villian League} and given a partner named Lucy {voiced by Kristen Wigg} as they go undercover at a shopping mall to capture a villain who has stolen a secret potion.
Why Kids Will Love It
Minions, Minions and more Minions! The picture above is from my son’s favorite scene in the movie and if you have see the trailer, then you know the Minions are back and funnier than ever! Each time they were on the screen, my son cracked up.
Also, my son sometimes gets distracted with 3D films and doesn’t like to keep the glasses on but he kept them on for the entire film. He was definitely captivated by each scene in Despicable Me 2.
Why Parents Will Love It
I enjoyed watching Gru as a parent to three girls, one being a teenager with her first love. You’ll also see Gru out on the dating scene himself which amounts to a funny scene. I also loved the chemistry between Gru and Lucy as they are out on their super secret missions.
I’m a big fan of the music of the first Despicable Me and the second one doesn’t disappoint. Pharrell Williams is back again to produce this soundtrack and I found all of the music throughout the movie catchy.
Plus, I’m always a fan of the minions myself! They do a great rendition of All 4 One’s “I Swear” in their Minion language which had me cracking up. You’ll want to stay through the credits for some more Minion fun.
Watch the Trailer!
Despicable Me 2 is a fun family film and I think kids of all ages will enjoy it. My 5 year old was especially a big fan. It’s rated PG for rude humor and mild action.
