After a wonderful night and celebration of learning about the new Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons I was excited to wake up bright and early for a day full of learning!
I had no idea how exciting and fun this day would be!
First things first was having breakfast at Citrico’s, a restaurant at the Grand Floridian.
Then it was time for the conference!
First we got to hear from Meg Crofton, President of Walt Disney World Resort. What an honor to hear her speak!
She gave us some HUGE facts about Disney World.
~ They employ 62,000 cast members.
~ Disney buses log 20 million miles annually!
~ Merchandise locations throughout Disney World have 35,000 different items!
Disney Parks theme this year is “Let The Memories Begin!”
Meg Crofton invited us all to “Please let the memories in, let the magic of Disney move you and enchant you!”
You can go to Disney’s website and share your Disney Memory on there! I have shared two memories on the site!

Make sure to head to Disney’s website and Let The Memories In!
Our next speaker was Matt Jacobson, Head of Marketing for Facebook. He was also Facebook’s 8th employee.
Chris Brogan called it later when he asked if we were all wondering who played him in the movie The Social Network? I sure know I was! I even tried to Google and find out while he was talking, but no luck! 😉
I loved listening to Matt talk. He was very easy going and such a good speaker. And he was very quick to answer any questions we had. He asked us questions. He wanted to know how Facebook was working for bloggers.
Facebook has 500 million users worldwide. How incredible is that? How impressive is that?
90% of Moms use Facebook to stay in touch.
50% of Moms use Facebook to discover Brands.
Are you using Facebook to build your blog, build your Brand?
You should be because Facebook is the largest Social Network in the World!
Here are some steps on what to do, according to Matt Jacobson.
1. Write a blog post. Make sure you are using Social Plugins on your blog!
2. Post your blog post to your Facebook page.
3. Advertise to find readers! (Have you used Facebook advertising? I want to know!)
4. Publish to your fans!
5. Learn and iterate! Do you use Facebook’s insight tools?
Matt Jacobson then shared the story of The 93 Dollar Club. A simple Random Act of Kindness raised over $120,000 to fight hunger! And it grew all over Facebook!
Then it was time for questions!
One of the questions asked of Matt was about the age limit for Facebook. Currently the age limit is 13 and how does Facebook police children’s Facebook pages?
I 100% agree with what Matt Jacobson said, which is it is the parent’s responsibility to police their children’s Facebook pages.
What do YOU think?
*I found it interesting that I found this article a few days ago. Facebook is booting 20,000 underage users a day!
Next up was the amazing Rene Syler.
Her website is Good Enough Mother.
Go ahead and open up another tab or page with her website and then come back here. You won’t regret it!
Rene’s attitude, enthusiasm and positivity was absolutely infectious!
Fired from her job on The Early Show, the daughter of two breast cancer survivors and going through a preventative mastectomy herself, she didn’t let these things get her down!
She threw these fabulous quotes out at us!
“Being washed up is just another word for reinventing yourself”.
“You may not know what you WANT to do but you KNOW what you DON’T want to do”.
“Real growth hurts”.
Rene Syler was amazing to listen to and I encourage you to check out her website Good Enough Mother and definitely follow her on Twitter at @goodenufmother!
We were then asked to share our own memories of Disney World after the Fairy Godmother came out and gave away a night in Cinderella’s Castle!
Can you imagine?? I’m sure all our hearts were pounding as the numbers were read off!
Congratulations to Andrea from Savings Lifestyle!
They then asked some of us to share Disney memories. Lots of bloggers grabbed the microphone and shared Disney memories.
One blogger started to share her story of meeting some characters. She got so excited and ran up on to the stage.
She was so excited and was talking so fast I could hardly understand her!
Wait a minute……she wasn’t a blogger!
She was Fran Capo, the World’s Fastest Women Talker! She’s in the Guinness Book of World Records 5 times! She is also an author and comedienne.
Fran hasn’t let anything get her down. She is persistent! There’s no such word as can’t!
She called a cruise ship and asked to do a speaking gig. She got her son to call an author to do a book report. She wrote a book in 2 weeks and published it herself at Staples. She did a book signing at the top of Mount Killimanjaro. She’s been held up at gunpoint!
She then said:
How many times a day do you tell someone that you love them?
How many times a day do you tell yourself that you love yourself?
There’s a reason why in airplanes you have to put the oxygen mask on yourself first! Not because you want your kids to die but because you have to take care of yourself first so you can help others!
Coming up in the next post!
Lunch at Citrico’s, some Hayden cuteness, Chris Brogan, Duffy the Bear and more!
Photo Credit: Most photos in my post were taken by Amanda of the awesome blog Disney Go To Girl! Check her out!
Disclosure: I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Conference at a deeply discounted rate. As part of the discounted rate I received park tickets, hotel stay, access to events and Swag not available to the public. We were not asked or required to write about our experience at the conference. All opinions are 100% mine!
Great recap, brings back things I’ve already forgotten! Thank you for sharing all the stats.
Interesting about facebook giving underage-ers the boot….
I had no idea Disney had such an involved social media outreach for mom bloggers!
So cool! I bet that was just an amazing day! 🙂
Oh thank you soooo much for this! What a lovely recap and such nice words about lil’ ol’ me 🙂 Being there with you guys restored my soul. Yeah it was a lot to go through, but we all go through tough times and come out stronger and more resilient because of them. Big, HUGE hugs!
xxoo
I wish I could have even attempted to go this year. I am hoping next year. I can’t wait to read about Duffy. Yeah I actually like the cute little bear.
Wow, that sounds amazing! I am sad I had to miss it again. Thanks for sharing the info!
