Disney Social Media Moms Conference!

I first heard about the Disney Social Media Moms Conference back in October.
I am such a huge Disney fan so I was instantly interested in this conference. When I read more about the conference over at 5 Minutes for Mom, I really knew I wanted to go to this conference.
It combines my passion for blogging and networking set in the Happiest Place on Earth!
 I had so much fun and learned so much at the Show Me the Blog Conference in St. Louis in October.
After that I made it a goal to attend as many conferences as I could (afford)!
I was so excited when I found out that Registration for the Disney conference was this past Thursday!
Heath and I put on a movie for Hayden (a Disney one, of course!) and both sat down at laptops with the page open!
It was a little frustrating waiting because we were stuck in a “queue” for a long time. Heath got in several times but was immediately kicked out.
I then got in and was able to fill out all my information about my blog.
After that all I could do was let out a sigh of relief, sit back and chat with other hopefuls on Twitter!
The next day I was on pins and needles and every time my iPhone dinged I frantically grabbed my phone and checked my email.
I was out to eat with my Mom and Hayden and I kept checking my email and the Twitter feed. I kept apologizing to my Mom, but luckily she understood and was okay. I saw on Twitter people announcing that they had gotten their emails so I went to check my email,All I did was read this:

Dear Melissa:

LET THE SOCIAL MEDIA MEMORIES BEGIN!

Congratulations! Your registration for the 2011 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration is confirmed.

and I gasped! I told my Mom I was in and she started crying!

I have to admit, I was pretty embarrassed (Sorry Mom!) because everyone was pretty much looking at us. But she told me she was just so happy for me because she knew how much this meant to me. I told Hayden we were going to Mickey’s house and then couldn’t wait to get home, start planning and talking to other attendees!

When I got home I was able to catch up on Twitter.

What I read was heartbreaking and frustrating. There were a lot of Moms out there that had not been accepted and it was so sad to read. I know that if I had not made it, I would have been heartbroken too.

There is a lot of controversy on Twitter and Blogs about the registration but I don’t want to talk about it here.

I want this to be a positive experience. I am so grateful that I am able to attend this conference–to meet friends that I have already made and to meet new friends!

This opportunity means so much to me and I can’t wait to learn more to help my blog.

I am sure that this is going to be an amazing conference filled with amazing speakers and activities!

We will be staying at the Grand Floridian Resort for 3 nights. Heath and Hayden are coming with and we are actually going to head down early so we can stay a whole week.

I am so excited about this and can’t wait to share the experience with you all!

    Congrats! I know that between the yearly Disney Mom's Panel auditions and this Social Media Moms Conference, there have been a lot of frustration and broken hearts. But not everyone who wants to can take part — there simply isn't enough room, so Disney does what it has to do. I can't wait to hear all about the conference!
