I can’t wait to share with all of you the exciting things I learned at the Disney Social Media Moms Conference!
It was such an amazing experience. Not just a conference, but a CELEBRATION!
The first night was an event called the Disney Fairytale Weddings and Honeymoon Platinum Soiree!
I walked down to the Wedding Pavilion, which is just a short walk from the Grand Floridian.
The Wedding Pavilion is GORGEOUS. Simply breathtaking. I can’t imagine standing up there to get married with Cinderella’s Castle perfectly framed in the back window.
As soon as we arrived we were able to pick up Minnie Bride Ears and there were also Mickey Groom Ears available too. Heath and I actually bought these and wore them during our honeymoon at Disney World 5 years ago so it was fun to wear them again!
The first thing I came upon was this:
Champagne!
And there was Franck, from Father of the Bride! He was hilarious!
We were also greeted by table after table filled with candy. That’s right, a candy bar! The candy was so bright and gorgeous!
And okay, it sure tasted good too!
@guavalicious, @bluemonkeybutt, @twinversity and me!
Everywhere we looked there were mannequins wearing the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Dresses.
They are stunning and let you be the Princess you have always wanted to be.
If I was able to pick a Wedding Dress again I would go with Cinderella’s Dress.
What would you pick?
We got to hear all about Disney Fairytale Weddings and Honeymoons. Did you know that Disney has been doing weddings for 20 years? Over 40,000 couples have been married at Disney World! I would love to plan a wedding at Walt Disney World! There must be so much to choose from to make your wedding so special. From the favors to burlap table runner bulk to your cake, all of it can be personalized!
What’s so exciting is they announced that there are now some new destinations to celebrate your wedding! Disney announced that you can now get married at Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Hawaii! You will also be able to recite your vows aboard the Disney Cruise Ships!
Bringing The Fairy Tale to Life is Disney’s newest Marketing Campaign where couples everywhere who have chosen to bring their own Fairy Tale to Life–whether it be an engagement, wedding or honeymoon at Disney– are sharing their stories with the Disney Weddings Blog.
We were able to hear the story of Kristen and Greg, who were married at Disney World 2 years ago. We watched their video with them talking about why they chose Disney World to have a wedding and how EASY it was to have a wedding at Disney World. Kristen teared up and I admit she made me want to tear up! They said they dreamed of being able to renew their vows there one day.
We were then introduced to Michael Shettel, the Vice President of Design for Alfred Angelo. The Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Dresses are simply gorgeous. I love how he shared that when he was first going to partner with Disney to create Fairy Tale Wedding Dresses he called up his 8 year old niece Lucy to get the details on all the Disney Princesses. She told him important details like “Sleeping Beauty was always a Princess” and “Belle’s Dress was yellow”.
I think his vision of the Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Dresses turned out really well! 😉 Each dress reflects the personality of each princess. For Tiana, he focused on her independence. For Belle, it was her individuality. And for Jasmine, he was inspired by the “glistening sand dunes” in the movie Aladdin.
Then it was time for the unveiling of the new Cinderella Platinum Anniversary Gown. This dress is such a tribute and a fantastic way to celebrate Disney’s 20 years of FairyTale Weddings and Honeymoons!
Did you gasp too when you saw this dress? Breathtaking!
Next up was Carley Roney from The Knot. Raise your hand if you were a Knottie!
Carely says to make your audience your passion, your obsession. Let your audience participate in the building of your brand! Focus on your community.
Carely shared that the average cost of a wedding in Manhattan is $71,000! Ouch!
We were then surprised with the appearance of David Tutera of My Fair Wedding.
@DVCMom was so excited to see him and it was so sweet, he came down to give her a hug.
A few tips that David shared:
Bloggers, you’re in the position to be a TREND SETTER! Don’t be a trend follower!
The trend for this year is bold, bright RED!
All brides have one thing in common….a Dream! David loves to make dreams come true!
Then music burst out! What was it?!?
A Flash Mob! (Gotta love those!)
It was a suprise wedding vow renewal for Kristen and Greg! I have to admit, I’m super jealous that they have gotten married at Disney World twice now! It was so sweet to see a wedding though!
They exited the Wedding Pavilion and we followed. Kristen and Greg took off in Cinderella’s Coach and fireworks and confetti cannons followed!
What a celebration!
We were then lead over to the lawn on the Grand Floridian for dinner, games and a few suprises! Our families joined us too and I was so happy to see my guys!
We sat at a table with some of my favorite people, @CarrieWChildren and her family, @DisneyGoToGirl and her family and @MamaOfAllTrades who was flying solo (Nice!).
We were treated to delicious food like steak kabobs, salad, antipasto, grilled veggies and more.
There was even a Children’s Buffet with burgers, grilled cheese, corn on the cob and giant cookies!
Heath may have been a little jealous of the Kid’s Table!
Oh and the dessert? How could I forget that?
It was a gorgeous night and it was filled with meeting fellow bloggers, Carnival Games, keeping Hayden off the beach and a few suprise guests!
Hayden was so lucky to get such great one on one time with Pluto, Goofy, Mickey and Minnie. But I thought it was hilarious as I was carrying him back to our table that he started yelling “The Duck! Donald Duck?! Where are you??”. He naturally thought that Donald Duck should be with the rest of the gang!
It was such an amazing afternoon and evening of fun! Thank you so much to Disney and everyone who participated and organized it!

Disclosure: I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Conference at a deeply discounted rate. As part of the discounted rate I received park tickets, hotel stay, access to events and Swag not available to the public. We were not asked or required to write about our experience at the conference. All opinions are 100% mine!

I was definitely more of a Snow White dress girl myself. I’m too short and chubby for all that tulle. But all the dresses were gorgeous!
I thought the vow renewal was ridiculous. We didn’t know them, they didn’t know us and they didn’t know their wedding party either. It was beyond odd.

Such a fun first day! I love that picture of Hayden hugging Pluto! 🙂

What a fantastic time! I can vouch that the Disney team is wonderful at wedding planning. We were married there in 2005 and other than having to rearrange the place cards before my guests arrived for dinner, it was flawless (and so much fun!)

I can’t believe with all the chatting we did on Twitter that we didn’t get a chance to meet! It was truly a whirlwind of magical experiences that we will keep in hearts forever!

I’m so bummed I missed the candy bar (I was a bit late, unfortunately), but even more bummed that we didn’t get to hang out together!
I look forward to reading the rest of your posts… and here’s hoping we can meet up again soon!
Cheers,
~Krista
