I love working from home because it allows me to work the hours I want to, freeing up the day to spend with my kids. We’ve spent the last few years adding tons of outdoor toys to our backyard, so all three of my kids love spending time out there. Whether they are playing catch, hide and seek or just playing with action figures, they like to spend hours out there even eating lunch at the picnic table, too.
Before we go outside though, there’s always an important thing we must do and that is put sunscreen and bug spray on! I like to put sunscreen on all of us right before we go outside and then again after we have been in the backyard for a few hours. And the bugs?! They are so bad in our neighborhood right now that nothing has been working for us except for putting bug spray on to keep the bites away.
We have so many different kinds of bug spray and sunscreen and it’s all over our house. I’ve got it in our bathroom, my diaper bag, our pool bag and even the car. They get taken all over the place and sometimes I can have trouble finding where I last put it. But not anymore! I’ve decided to create one central station for our sunscreen and bug spray, right next to our back door.
If you’ve read Sippy Cup Mom for awhile, you might know that I like easy crafts and projects. Don’t hand me a drill and there’s no way I can sew anything. Thanks to Command™ and Scotch® Brand products in the craft aisle at Walmart, it can’t get any easier to make this DIY Sunscreen and Bug Spray Center!
Supplies Needed
– Container for Sunscreen and Bug Spray – I opted for two small galvanized containers but you could use a crate, a basket or anything that you think goes with your decor!
– Embellishments – I found this cute wooden sun and had to get it for the sunscreen container. Then, I found this small chalkboard that would be fun to place on the container to write something for the bug spray container.
– Command™ Damage-Free Hanging Strips
– Scotch® Brand Permanent Mounting Squares
Directions
Find a good place to put your Sunscreen and Bug Spray Center. I wanted it right by our back door since we are always going out into our backyard to play. Plus, look at this ugly space just begging for something!
Place two Command™ Damage-Free Hanging Strips on the back of your container by following the directions. It’s SO easy, I promise.
Once you have the Command™ Damage-Free Hanging Strips positioned on your container, peel off the green liner and place on the wall.
That looks pretty good, right? But it still needs something which is why I picked up the sun and chalkboard embellishments.
Using the Scotch® Brand Permanent Mounting Squares, I placed a square on the back of each item.
Press the embellishments on to the front of your container and then fill them up with sunscreen and bug spray!
Doesn’t it look great and it was SO easy to create! I love that all of our sunscreen and bug spray will be in one central location now.

This is such a really great idea and I love how easy this is, this is so perfect to know where all your sprays are when you need them.

that is a good idea! I’m very diligent about the sunscreen. I didn’t know there’s a good insect repellent – I don’t know what bugs you have, but if this works for blackflies I might try camping again!

This is a very cute idea. We need a central location to keep bug spray and sunscreen. Right now it is just wherever.

Why should you cover yourself in sunscreen then bug spray when one cream could do it all?
