I am always looking for new games on my iPhone – for both me and my 5 year old son! There are so many games out there that have helped him to learn and make his critical thinking skills sharper. The latest app we are loving? Jade Monkey, which is available in iTunes for free for a limited time only!

I have the new iPhone 5S and the first thing I noticed is that Jade Monkey looks fantastic on it, as it’s optimized for the retina display. Once you get started with the game, you have the joice of playing it in Arcade mode {where you only have a minute to play} or Zen mode, where there’s no time limit. I usually like playing in Zen mode, as does my son.

Once you start playing Jade Monkey, you’ll venture into the mysterious rainforest in the hunt for colorful gems, and shiny gold coins- you have uncovered the hidden temple of the Jade Monkey!

Swap jewels vertically or horizontally to form groups of three or more same-colored gems. If you form multiple matches in a row quickly, you’ll appease the gods and unlock power-ups.

Stone glyphs suggest that the temple contains six magical powers, and match-making adventures – but beware the deadly magic guarding the Temple Treasure!

Fun Features of Jade Monkey

* Real time head to head multiplayer via Game Center – This has been a lot of fun because I got my husband to download the game too! Now both my son and I can play against him!

* Classic match-three style puzzle solving – I love how the game is helping my 5 year old with his critical thinking skills. He has had to be fast thinking and he always yells out loud when he gets a match – I love seeing how excited he is!

* HD Retina Display Graphics – Like I mentioned before, the graphics look amazing. They are sure to capture both you and your child’s attention!

* Cool sound and special effects – The game has cool sound effects like you’re actually in a Mayan jungle {which my son thinks is so cool!}. He loves when special effects fly onto the screen after he has done a good job.

* Unlock Magical Jewels and Wards – Having a goal to work toward and being rewarded makes a game even better! My son absolutely loves it when he gets rewarded playing Jade Monkey – and I do too!
