My husband and I have long been a fan of Netflix. In fact, we often have Netflix dates where we send the kids to Grandma’s house and we spend a night in catching up on our favorite television shows. When Netflix Just for Kids was introduced, I was excited for a special section for my son with all of his favorite television shows.
When we had our twin girls this year, life got even busier for us. I work from home and I’ve had to adjust from going to one to three kids! The most important thing I’ve done with my twins is try and get them into a routine before bedtime. While my husband and I get them ready for bed, my son gets to snuggle in our bed while he enjoys his own personal Netflix time.
Why We Love Netflix
We love Netflix for the wide variety of quality shows that it offers for children. The Netflix Just for Kids section has all of your family favorites that are appropriate for children ages 2- 12. Best of all, all of the content in this section is selected with help from Common Sense Media to provide ratings, reviews and information so parents can easily make choices for their kids!
Hayden loves watching episodes of his favorite show, Jake and the Never Land Pirates while we get his sisters to bed. He recently has really gotten into Batman and we have a mini Gotham City set up in his bedroom. I recently was checking out Netflix Just for Kids and found out that you can stream episodes of Batman & Beyond. The kid is now in love with the series and it’s been a special request of his lately. I love that I’m able to find his favorite shows and movies right on the television. No more flipping channels hoping to catch an age-appropriate show, especially in the evening hours.
Netflix has recently added new content from Hasbro, Disney Jr. and Cartoon Network so we have enjoyed exploring both old favorites and discovering new shows.
I miss getting one on one time with Hayden since the girls have arrived and I definitely miss my snuggles! One of my favorite things to do is snuggle with him in bed while we watch one of our favorite movies. Luckily, one of our favorite movies is right on Netflix! We absolutely love Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax and it’s one of our go-to movies to watch on family movie nights.
Netflix On The Go
One of our favorite things about Netflix is how you can really access it anywhere you go. Like I mentioned before, life has gotten busy with the addition of our twins and it seems like we are always on the go. We had a lot of doctor’s appointments for them early on and I had to bring my son with me most of the time. When he got tired in the waiting room, I loved that I was able to pull out my iPhone or iPad and bring up Netflix so he could watch his favorite shows.
You can even continue what you are watching from home. There’s been a few times that he has been in the middle of a movie or a television show when we had to leave. All you have to do is open your device and resume watching!
The Netflix apps are free and available on hundreds of devices – you probably already have one in your home! We watch Netflix through our Apple TV, our Blu-ray Player, our iPhone and our iPad.
What are you watching on TV with your family? Netflix has family favorites from Disney, Disney Jr., Hasbro, Cartoon Network and Dreamworks that are available to stream anytime, anywhere.
And streaming is easier than you think! Download the free app on your iPad, click on the Netflix app on any gaming device, go to the website on your computer – and you’re in business. Check it out here!

We have been fans of Netflix for years, it is a great service.
This is awesome! My son loves Netflix and we let him watch it sometimes on his tablet. I love that now there is a dedicated section of it just for kids. We can show him how to get to it and he can chose what he watches for the day.
We use Netflix as well. My kids love The Lorax, by the way!
I love how functional and easy to use NetFlix is now, especially for the kiddos!!
We’re always starting a movie on one device and finishing it on another. That really is a handy feature!
My mom got my kids hooked on NetFlix last time she was here. I just need to sign up!
I love having a WiFi DVD player so we can use our Netflix streaming for quick movie nights when we didn’t plan ahead!
We are completely hooked on NetFlix!
We are absolutely in love with Netflix! It is a total life saver when we are running errands and I have kids going crazy!
We like Netflix too.
I don’t have kids (yet) but we absolutely love netflix. We ditched cable and don’t miss it thanks to netflix.
I had no idea about this! I need to sign up!
We had Netflix some time ago, I didn’t know they have all these features now. Maybe we will have to sign up again.
We LOVE Netflix. We don’t miss commercials AT ALL!! A favorite show to watch around here is Phineas & Ferb 🙂
We just started using Netflix a couple weeks ago. We love it!
I have heard of a number of people getting rid of cable for Netflix. I just wonder how all these people get their news? I like that you avoid commercials, that either encourage your child to beg for something new or advertise a product that is not appropriate for their age and ears to hear.
How do you watch American idol or CNN when you rid cable. I know you didnt do that, but wonder how others can. There are so many movies I can watch till I need basic tv, most importantly the Ellen Show!.
im a huge fan of Netflix!!
I’ve heard great things about Netflix over the years but have never subscribed. I’ll have to look into signing up.
That’s one of Kendall’s favorite shows too!
We love netflix streaming here too! Mason’s favorite shows are Spiderman related!
You are so smart to have that available while you’re running to doctor appointments and whatnot!!!! Brilliant!
I had no idea that there was a Netflix for kids. My son will love that. Thanks!
I’ve been wanting to try Netflix because it’s so much cheaper than cable. I love that I can access it on many different platforms.
My kids love Netflix too and they were very happy when Netflix added the section only for kids. It was easy to find their own shows!
I’d be lost without Netflix now. The entire school year, my grandson had it on every morning watching his favorite shows. We love it!
At last, someone comes up with the “right” answer!
THX that’s a great answer!
That’s really thinking of the highest order
Well done article that. I’ll make sure to use it wisely.
