When I found out that I was pregnant with twin girls, I was a little scared. Nervous, overwhelmed, excited….you name it, I felt it. When I started thinking of them growing older, I was thankful that they would have a hero to look up to – their big brother, Hayden.
At 6 years old, Hayden is a hero in our household, especially to his baby sisters. These girls look up to him so much and I can see the love and admiration in their eyes as they chase him around the house. Ever since the girls were born, he’s been a hero to me too. I was worried about how he would adjust to having two siblings join our lives at once but it didn’t even phase him. From day one, he’s helped us out by getting diapers and wipes and recently he’s kept the girls entertained so I can get a load of laundry done or start dinner.
He’s sensitive, caring and always enthusiastic to help out others – well, as long as we don’t interrupt his iPad time. He puts up with the girls stealing his toys and is quick to comfort one of them if they are upset. He loves waking up in the morning and going into their rooms to say hello before he’s off to school. He’s not just Olivia and Evelyn’s hero – he’s mine too!
