The bathroom is usually such a small space, so organizing it can be a pain. Here’s how to make it look beautiful and keep it that way.
Sort and Pitch
Bathroom storage. It’s a problem everyone faces. Here’s the solution. Sort everything into two piles: stuff you will keep and stuff you will throw away. These two piles will help you figure out the future of your bathroom.
It’s probably the hardest thing to do because most everyone wants to keep everything they have now. Admit it – you’re a closet hoarder. It’s OK. Now it’s time to do something about it. Pitch all of the stuff that you don’t use, that’s old, or that somehow made it into the bathroom but doesn’t belong.
For example, do you have an old loofa that’s collecting funky smells? Time to chuck it. What about a small bar of soap that got welded to a new bar. Chuck that too. We want new, clean, and simple stuff in the bathroom.
Use Racks and Hooks
Use racks and hooks to organize – these are some of the best bathroom storage tools money can buy. Get some shelving too for those spare towels that you need at a moment’s notice. In-shower shelving is good for bar soap and razors. Don’t know where to look? Try Bed Bath & Beyond. They make stuff that’s pretty and simple. Seriously. Just do it.
You can hand just about anything on a hook these days, including soaps and shampoos, loofas, and shower caps.
Throw Away Samples
Do you have cute little soap samples you got from your last vacation? What about little bottles of shampoo and conditioner? Or, maybe you’ve started collecting samples in the mail. Stop it. Get rid of them. Seriously.
Do you even use them? Most people don’t and, unless you travel every other weekend, you probably don’t need them. And, even if you do travel every other weekend, you’ll find more little shampoos and soaps in the place you’ll be staying.
Either way, you don’t need samples.
Revamp Your Cabinets
The cabinets under your sink tend to transform themselves into a sort of smorgasbord of toiletries, cleaners, and bathroom tools. Take inventory and toss what you don’t need. This would include old scouring pads, empty cleaning supplies, and rags that aren’t suitable for cleaning anything.
Invest in a caddy that can hold all of your stuff.
Keep It Clean
Keep the counters clean and free of debris and other miscellaneous stuff. Does your countertop look like bathroom urban sprawl? Do you have bobby pins, hair dryers, curling irons, and makeup sitting everywhere?
Buy another bathroom storage caddy and corral that mess. Bonus: it makes it much easier to clean. All you have to do is pick up the caddy, move it, and wipe down the counter. Bam. Done.
Go Cordless
If you’re drowning in cords, it might be time to upgrade some of your bathroom appliances to cordless models. Or, at least, try to get retractable cords It will keep things clean and out of the way. Your hubby or significant other will appreciate it and you won’t have to untangle a mess in the morning when you’re trying to get ready.

I recently organized my bathroom and realized I could sure use an under the sink organizer. I haven’t gotten one yet but am on the look-out for something nice & affordable. I get quite a few samples and keep them in a bag to donate to my local women’s shelter every few months. They love it!
