With summer here, I’ve been wanting to keep busy with my family but it’s SO hot out. Plus we have 4 month old twins that I’m nursing so it’s hard to stay away from the house for too long. My solution to make sure that we are still having fun at home as a family? Family movie nights with Netflix!
Staying in night after night can get boring especially when my 5 year old is always wanting to do something outside of the house. We have recently started having Family Movie Nights where we all hang out in our bed with some popcorn and drinks. It’s easy picking a movie that we all enjoy with Netflix’s new site called Netflix Families!
Netflix Families is the perfect destination for all of your summer entertainment. The site features new categories that include Family Movie Night, Are We There Yet and TV for Curious Kids. When it comes time for us to pick out a movie, we browse the Family Movie Night section and we always love the movies that are suggested!
Family Movie Night with Netflix
When it’s Family Movie Night in our household, we usually change into our jammies and get comfortable in our big King size bed. All 5 of us can spread out and relax as we watch the movie. Last week, I browsed the Family Movie Night section on Netflix ahead of time to decide what we would watch because I wanted to make it a fun theme night! My son had never seen Dumbo before and since it’s one of my favorite movies I knew that was going to have to be the movie of the week!
For dinner I decided to serve up some “Circus Food” and made “Three Ring Circus Pizza”, which was really just one of my son’s favorite meals – English Muffin Pizza. For snacks in bed, what’s better than popcorn and circus animal crackers?
We had such a fun time watching Dumbo and now my son can’t wait until the circus comes to our city. He also can’t wait until our next movie night!
Learning and Fun with Netflix
I’m a work-at-home Mom so sometimes I just have to get something done at a specific time. When that happens, I usually turn to Netflix to help keep my son entertained. On the Netflix Families website, I love that there are different sections to choose from like Quiet Time and TV for Curious Kids.
I never would have thought to show Hayden some of the shows pictured above but he has really enjoyed watching them and he is so interested in learning more and always asking questions!
Hayden is also a big Superhero fan so after an educational show, I’ll usually put on one of his favorites – Superman, Ultimate Spiderman or Justice League! He’s big into superheros and he’s always begging to watch the shows on Netflix.
Netflix for Mom and Dad
After all three kids are in bed, it’s Mom and Dad time! We usually are so exhausted, we just stay in bed and watch some shows or a movie on Netflix! There’s so much to choose from but on the Netflix Families site, you can browse a few categories like Catch-Up TV for Busy Parents or Movies Based on Bestsellers.
I loved catching up on the first season of Scandal {I’m hooked!} and we had a great time watching the new season of Arrested Development {exclusive to Netflix!}. Take a look below at some of these suggested shows for parents – all of my favorites!
Save on Summer Entertainment with Netflix
We have seen a couple movies this summer and with popcorn and drinks, it’s cost us well over $50! A one-year Netflix subscription costs less than taking a family of five on two trips to the movie theater – and that’s without popcorn!
Netflix delivers big entertainment without breaking the bank – it’s only $7.99 a month to stream your favorite movies and shows on a wide range of devices including smartphones, tablets, laptops, Smart TVs, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo Wii.
Netflix has saved the day so many times this summer and had provided us hours of entertainment!
Netflix.com/Families is a new destination designed to meet your family’s summertime entertainment needs. On Netflix.com/Families, parents can find lists of movies and TV shows for all kinds of special summer moments.
Visit www.Netflix.com/Families for more information on the best ways to stream as well as videos from families using Netflix.

I love summer, and we try and get out as often as we can, but there are days where it’s just too hot to go anywhere. Thank goodness for Netflix, for those days.
