When it comes to competition many people play sports and other activities just for the feeling you get while playing. There are others who would rather watch people playing sports professionally on television. You hear lots of stories of guys gathering around the TV on a Sunday afternoon to catch the big game and a lot of spouses that just can’t stand that day.
One thing you could try is making it a great family affair instead of just “the guys.” You could get your family involved in what you love to do by using an entertainment provider that facilitates screening multiple games at once. In this category, there is only one option: DIRECT TV rules in the world of sports. They have an amazing amount of sports packages to let you watch every game of the season no matter what sport you want.
Have Some Family Fun
Getting your entire family interested in sports can be a great thing that you can do with them. One of the only problems when it comes to this is the commercials that are geared towards adults, ones that children should not be viewing. One thing that you can do when the commercial come on is to mute the TV and take the time to communicate with your children, talk about the game and what is going on. You could also set up mini games that take place during commercials.
Another issue that arises during the game is that you find some players that will have bad sportsmanship. The commercials are a good time to talk to your kids about how bad that is and that it should not be happening. You want to be sure that you get them involved and show your love for the game so that they can have the same appreciation.
Playing the sports, you watch and love with your kids is another thing that you can do to help them learn more about the sport and get them more involved and perhaps want to take on the game for themselves in school. Some kids may not like to watch certain sports, you should find a common ground in what you all want to see and you can always set your DVR or Tivo to record the other games and watch them later.
Are They Interested
Some people often have traumatic experiences when it comes to playing sports. The fathers will often push them into playing all kinds of things so that they can live vicariously through the children and that can make for a bad experience for the kids making them hate the sport. You want to make sure that this does not happen with your children. You should never pressure them. If they show that they are interested in sports, then help them and let them play. Do not be one of those dads that stands on the sidelines constantly yelling and screaming because you are not playing or that a bad call was made.
Your kids can learn a lot from playing sports in school. They teach kids how to work well with others and gives them some discipline. They are also able to have time with their friends and it is something that they can share with their families and make them feel proud that they have accomplished something great in their lives. If you show them that you are proud and showing a great interest without being too pushy then your kids will grow to love the game and spend more time with you watching the games on the weekends.
