Small acts of kindness reap big rewards. While the holiday season is always busy for families, it is also a time to help children reflect on the meaning of giving and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Research shows that the types of gifts children give to others helps shape their identities throughout adolescence. For example, family projects that involve giving to those in need can be turned into powerful lessons that teach compassion, empathy, and meaning.
The generationOn Holiday Gift Campaign provides kids and teens with an easy and fun way to make a big difference in the lives of others and to understand the true spirit of the holidays.
generationOn has teamed up with Hasbro this holiday season and are inspiring kids and teens to pledge their commitment to the power of service and give back to children in need through the second annual generationOn Holiday Gift Campaign.
Through December 13, each time a child or teen takes the pledge to volunteer at www.generationOn.org, Hasbro will donate a toy to a child in need through Toys for Tots. Hasbro has committed to donating up to 100,000 toys through its ongoing partnership with generationOn. Parents, teachers and youth leaders can encourage kids to take the pledge to volunteer, and kids can encourage their friends, classmates and peers to commit to the power of helping others. The more kids and teens that take action, the more toys will be donated to those in need during the holidays.
I am so excited about this campaign and how it can help others! My family pledged to create a Holiday Hope Chest filled with small toys for a child in need. I’m thrilled that with my family helping a child in need, that Hasbro and generationOn will donated a toy through Toys for Tots!
Make sure to check out this great campaign and make your own pledge. Remember, it ends December 13th! You can find out more at https://holidaytoys.generationon.org/.
