We have all heard of Publisher’s Clearing House, right? When I think about it, I imagine someone coming up to my door with a giant check and a bouquet of flowers….actually, I just can’t imagine it! It would be too amazing!
Publishers Clearing House isn’t just about prizes though, they’re very charitable! I absolutely love this about a company! For the third year in a row, PCH has hosted the Give Back event on their Facebook page, where just last year they gave $100,000 to charity!
Publishers Clearing House Ongoing Charitable Efforts
Harold and LuEsther Mertz, the founders of Publishers Clearing House (who are now deceased) made sure that over 40% of PCH’s profits go to trusts for the benefit of charities that support the arts, human rights, the environment, medical research, education and other worthy causes.
The New York Botanical Garden, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the National Audubon Society and the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association are just a few of the major beneficiaries of PCH’s 60 years of success.
Publishers Clearing House is known for making dreams come true for winners all across the nation. But they also want to make dreams come true for charities and individuals in need, too!
2013 Publishers Clearing House Give Back Event
On the Publishers Clearing House Facebook Page, you can check out The Give Back Event where they are featuring three very special charities: USO, ASPCA and St. Jude. Over there, you can learn more about all three charities mission and programs and then vote for your favorite charity, once a day. The charity with the most votes at the end of 4 weeks will be given $50,000! 2nd place will receive $35,000 and third place will receive $25,000.
2013 PCH Give Back Event Charities
– ASPCA®: The mission of the ASPCA, as stated by Henry Bergh in 1866, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.”
– USO®: The USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops, their families, our wounded warriors and their families and the families of the fallen. The USO is a private, non-profit 501(C)3 organization.
– St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®: The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to find cures and save children. St. Jude opened in 1962 and was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, who believed that no child should die in the dawn of life.
