We use steamed rice in all the dishes that require rice. Also we cut the sugar drinks now and drink water instead.
I’ve used whole wheat pasta for a while and since I have a dairy (cow’s milk) allergy, I use alternatives to butter, sour cream, cream cheese, milk, and cheese. I’m a Southern gal – born and raised in the Bluegrass fields of Kentucky – but nobody can taste the difference in my homestyle cooking.
I love Rocco and would really love a copy of his new book!

I cook very little fried foods 🙂
Where did my comment go? I swear I left it here!
I use non-dairy alternatives because I have a dairy (cow’s milk) allergy so I’ve replaced the butter, cream, etc. with healthier choices when cooking meals…..plus, nobody knows the difference!

My mom and I love our George Foreman Grill. We cook our chicken breasts on there and they come out delicious. We top them off with cooked (diced) tomatoes and spinach. It’s the best ever. And the great thing is that the George Foreman grills takes out all the fat! It’s healthy and amazingly great!
I cut calories by using a few squirts of lite balsamic salad dressing on veggies instead of butter.
I eat alot of whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables daily.
I substitute Greek yogurt for mayo and sour cream. I also put the dressings of salad on the side. If we are at home then I will allow myself 1 cap full of dressing. Instead of french fries, I make baked acorn squash all of the time and it is SO GOOD!

I love Rocco!! I would love to win this!
Oops – hit post too fast! I have been trying to cut out my mid-morning snack to save some calories. I make sure I have a good breakfast to keep me fuller longer!
I eat raw for lunch: a fruit smoothie, made of frozen blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, grapes and a half a banana, with a little apple juice. Divine tasting, and full of vitamins, fiber and antioxidants!
We eat fruit for dessert and I have cut out salt and added butter to our recipes.
I’ve been buying whole wheat pasts for years now. I try to cut calories by using items such as light sour cream, lighter salad dressings and I don’t add any extra salt.

I feel like we need to give up the mac and cheese. I make it more than I should because my son is super picky and it seems like the only thing I can get him to eat faithfully.
I quit buying soda and other junk drinks for home. We use to go through lots of junk drinks which equals empty calories
I don’t let my family drink soda; I buy whole wheat bread.
I cut out extra calories by using more fruits and vegetables all day long.
We have made a switch to more whole grains and fruits.
I eat small minimally processed meals throughout the day.
Drink a lot of water, cut out as much processed food as possible, eat lots of fruits and veggies!!

I try to be aware of sugar intake.

This would be so helpful for being more assertive with cooking dinner instead of ordering delivery!

We use whole wheat pasta instead of regular, and we never eat white rice, only brown. We also use olive oil instead of other less healthy oils.
I like to substitute mayonnaise for avocado as a spread on sandwiches. Also when making a salad like tuna salad, I also like to add yogurt and reduce the mayonnaise. Works great!
I cut calories on what my family eats by , steaming vegetables, using 1% milk , and using splenda instead of sugar on our drinks
Spaghetti squash or whole wheat for noodles. Make my own yogurt so I know what’s in it and try to use as little of processed foods as I can.
