I’m so excited to share our newest review with you. JORD, Swedish for ‘earth, soil, land’, has created a set of timepieces that “take people back to nature and away from today’s metal and rubber” by using wood. Yup, wood watches. And every single one is one-of-a-kind thanks to natural variances in the color and grain of the wood.
As soon as my Sully in Natural Green arrived I could immediately tell why JORD’s motto is ‘telling more than time’. The oversized Sully came in gorgeous packaging and it is quite a statement piece! I could tell that even before I took it out of the box.
This JORD watch is splash-proof. That means it will survive a light splashing but shouldn’t be submerged. I’ve washed dishes and the dog and also had a last warm day of the year squirt gun battle and Sully is happily ticking away. The finish is still striking and unscathed after much use and I’m not exactly delicate with my accessories. The contrast bezel nicely sets off the face from the band.
The numbering is large and easy to read with a nice contrasting color to the watch face. Everyone who sees my Sully is amazed at the unique look of the watch and I’ve had too many compliments to count regarding the intricate, created by nature, design of the wood grain.
Sully felt good on my wrist and I know why JORD decided to make wood watches. The band and watch back are warm against my skin and the watch doesn’t feel weighty, especially given it’s impressive size. It doesn’t want to wander on my wrist, a problem with some other oversized pieces I’ve previously worn. I attribute this to some very smart craftsmanship on JORD’s part. And the band, WOW, it is gorgeous!
