Great Gift for the Holiday Season: Our Generation Doll

Did you somehow end up with an American Girl magazine subscription in your mail?  When you get it does your little girl turn into a crazed maniac like mine does?  “MOM!! I want this, and this, and this, and this!”

I’d love to be able to buy her every doll in that huge magazine, but alas, money does not grow on trees.  I know how much she wanted a doll like the AG ones, so when I had a chance to review a doll from Our Generation I jumped on the chance.

After our doll arrived (her name is Sadie), she ate dinner with us, sat in the bathroom with us when Cecelia was getting her bath, read books with us and has slept with Cecelia every night.  She immediately became a part of the family.  And in my opinion, that takes a lot when it comes to dolls since Cecelia has random other ones she never plays with.

The first thing I noticed after taking Sadie out of the packaging is how similar to AG dolls she looks; the smooth, porcelain skin, the shiny, soft, THICK hair and the CUTE outfit.  The awesome people at Our Generation even sent us a matching outfit for Cecelia and Sadie to wear at the same time.  They are adorable, and Cecelia couldn’t wait to put it on (however she had to but we were eating spaghetti that night and I was determined to keep SOMETHING of hers clean). These outfits are CUTE! Very modern and definitely something I would dress Cecelia in.

I do have a weird quirk when it comes to dolls however, and that is their hair.  I’m always so worried the hair is going to get filled with knots, and we all know how hard it is to get knots out of hair of dolls without them getting chunks of hair ripped out.  I will tell you I am IMPRESSED with the quality of hair this doll has.  After being in bed with Cecelia (who has been known to do “downward dog” in her sleep) the knots in the doll’s hair is VERY minimal.  And the best part?!?! It can be brushed out without heaps of hair falling out!

I’ll admit, when I was offered the chance to review the doll and outfit, I was a little skeptical.  I went online and looked at their prices and thought the quality would not be that great.  Well, do not judge these dolls and their accessories by the price.  They literally sell for pennies compared to AG dolls and in my opinion the quality is just as great, I really cannot say enough about how awesome these products are and we’ll definitely be buying Cecelia some of the awesome accessories that are available.

Another awesome thing Our Generation does is donate money to Free the Children’s Power of Girl Initiative.  Free the Children is the world’s largest network of children helping children through education, and as we can all agree, education is one of the most important things in life.
