My husband has lost over 30 lbs by eating healthy and watching his calories! I know I meed to jump on this bandwagon, so I went grocery shopping today armed with a list of all healthy foods. We usually feed our son healthy food (Check out Wholesome Toddler Food for great recipes and ideas!) but I knew that I really needed to do it for myself too.
But why is healthy food so expensive? I love clipping coupons but it usually seems that coupons are for junky, processed food. Occasionally, I will find coupons for healthy foods, but it is so rare! I think I spent over $30 in fruit alone! I will definitely be happy when spring and summer is here and fruit will be in season! Our son is a strawberry-blueberry addict and we will go through several pints a WEEK. I’m actually thinking of starting a mini strawberry/blueberry garden, but that’s a whole other post! 🙂
So if you have any ideas on how to save money by buying healthy food, let me know! And while you’re at it leave some tips on how to keep a toddler entertained while grocery shopping! 🙂

At Sams Club you can buy a 4 lb. bag of Dole frozen blueberries for about 7 or 8 dollars. We go though a bag a month and it is much less than fresh ones but taste as good, in my opinion somtimes better. They also have a 5 lb. bag of slices strawberries for 8 dollars.
Oh, thank you! I didn't even think to look at Sam's! That will definitely be a better deal!
Frozen veggies are supposedly just as good if not better than fresh and they often go on sale. We load up our extra freezer with tons of different mixes of them.
