It’s definitely fall here in St. Louis as the weather cools down and the leaves are falling. Something about fall makes me want to start cooking and baking!
I dropped Hayden off at school and decided to head to Walmart. Usually, I’m always shopping with him and we are either in a hurry or spend the majority of our time in the toy section so there’s no tantrums. It was such a luxury to go shopping by myself!
I wanted to try out the Hillshire Farm Gourmet Creations Sausages. I had this recipe floating around in my mind from when we visited an apple farm earlier this fall, so I wanted to see if I could recreate it at home.
When I found the Hillshire Farm Gourmet Creation Sausage, my mouth was watering! There were several different varieties and they all sounded so good!
Once I looked around the store and got all of the ingredients I needed, I headed home! Make sure to check out my complete shopping trip in my Google + album!
Sausage, Gouda and Apple Grilled Sandwich
Ingredients:
~Hillshire Farm Gourmet Creations Chicken Apple with Gouda Cheese Sausage
Green Apple
Yellow Onion
Gouda Cheese
Ciabatta Bread
Oh, how I love recipes with 5 ingredients or less!
It’s so easy to cook the sausage. You can microwave it, but I choose to cook it on my stove top.
I could have done it at the same time, but then I grilled the onions.
After that was done, I placed the Chicken Apple Sausage and onions on the bread.
Then I placed sliced green apples and Gouda cheese on top of the sandwich. I love using green apples for this because of the tartness!
Then it was time to bake! I baked in the oven for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
I probably should have either toasted it in the toaster oven or baked for a little bit longer, because the cheese wasn’t completely melted. It still was SO delicious and so filling!
I had this sandwich for lunch but I could easily have this for dinner with a side salad or maybe some sweet potato fries! It also was so easy to make, so I know this will become a fixture in our dinner rotation.

Love the combination of ingredients… now my mouth is watering!
The combination of all the ingredients totally made it! It was so good!
YUM!! I love how you added the apple and cheese. We are so trying that here!
Let me know how you like it, it was so good!
That sounds really tasty! You had me hooked at the word ‘gouda”. Yum!
Gouda is one of my favorite cheeses!
I thought I was hungry until I looked at the pictures. That looks awesome! Gouda is one of my favorite cheeses.
Mine too!
I’m not a huge sausage fan, but that looks really good!!
Be at your house for lunch in t-minus 4.5 hours! 🙂
That sounds extra delicious. I’m a vegetarian, so would remove the sausage, but the rest of it looks and sounds divine.
I am not a huge sausage an either but that looks delicious! Great job! 🙂
