H hasn’t played with playdough yet, so I decided to make some homemade playdough, since I had all the ingredients on hand. I’m glad I did, because he LOVED it!
I got the recipe from the site My Montessori Journey.
Here is the recipe:
1 Cup Flour
1/2 Cup Salt
1 Tablesppon Cooking Oil
1 Tablespoon Cream of Tartar
1 Cup Water
Food Coloring
Stir ingredients together. Over medium heat, stir constantly. It will form a ball pretty quickly. Let it cool on the counter or a cutting board and then form into a ball. Cool and store in a covered container. And then play!
Instead of food coloring, I actually added a dry packet of Kool-aid! I made two batches. One is Watermelon, which turned out pink and the other was Blueberry, which turned out blue (of course!).
H was a BIG help making the playdough and he loved playing with it. We have taken it out pretty much every day. Oh, and good thing it’s edible because our dog Zoey took a huge bite of it!
