Ugh. Daylight Savings Time. Need I say more? But along with bright mornings and darker evenings comes cooler temperatures (unless you live somewhere amazingly beautiful all year) that tend to fluctuate hourly.
A few days ago, I was offered the opportunity to review the Honeywell Lyric Round Wi-Fi Thermostat and I was loving it once I opened the box.
The design of the Lyric Round is so sleek and fits in with any decor, and it’s all touchscreen which to me, makes it more aesthetically pleasing.
Upon unboxing the Lyric Round, included was everything you need to install: screws, drywall anchors, optional wall cover, as well as a battery for those who do not have a C-Wire.
The Lyric Round was SO easy to install. I was a little apprehensive since wires kind of freak me out and I had never once installed a thermostat or anything similar, however, the instruction manual explained everything wonderfully and it took me no more than 15 minutes to get it all hooked up and running.
The day we received the Lyric Round was one of those weird days where it was weirdly chilly in the morning and evening and unseasonably warm during the day. And that can make for weird temps inside your home if you don’t have a programmable thermostat.
Once it was all hooked up I was able to play with it as well as the app that is required for changing your preferences when you’re away. Upon opening the app, you’ll be at the main screen where you can set the temperature, turn the HVAC system on or off, schedule your sleep or away preferences, and even check the upcoming forecast.
My favorite feature about the app is the ability to be able to set different prefrences like sleep settings and away settings. The sleep settings are awesome for the times you settle down and like it a little warmer or cooler throughout the night. I hardly ever hear the heat running between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless its a quick turn on to reach your ideal set temp. I love sleeping when it’s a little colder in the house, so in the middle of the night, the temperature will never go above 73 or below 66 unless I change it. However, at 6am, the Lyric Round “wakes up” and the house is a nice 73 degrees.
Another awesome feature is the Geofencing capabilities. You can set your away settings for when you’ll be out of the house. By enabling the Lyric Round app to monitor your location, it can tell when you’ll be home by setting the temperature to your desired number for when you arrive.
Once we were up and running, I started messing with the Lyric Round itself and found out that when you walk by it, it picks up on your movement and shows you the temperature! (Nerd alert) I actually catch myself looking at it when I walk by just to watch it light up. I also love the ability to be able to press the cloud/sun button on the left, and it will display the upcoming temperatures for the next 12 hours so with a press of a button, I know how to dress the kids for school without having to track down my phone. Another fun feature about the Lyric Round is how to manually adjust the temperature and the fun sound it makes while you’re doing it
With the holidays upon us, I can’t imagine a better thermostat that suits to your needs. Easily setting the temperature before guests arrive and programming it to cool down once the house is filled makes for a more comfortable party without having to always worry about if it’s too hot or too cold.

This sounds like an awesome thermostat. I rent though and I am not sure they would allow me to install one of these, but sure would love one.

I have replaced thermostats before and it is much easier than I thought it would be.
