Winter is here and boy did it get cold quickly this year. Couple that with a thorough dampness and we have some cold kids every time they go outside to burn off energy. That’s why I was super excited when I found out I was selected to host a #LeapIntoGaming party with a LeapTV video gaming system from LeapFrog!
LeapTV is an educational gaming system designed for children ages 3-8. The games are leveled according to the child’s age so the problems presented are appropriately challenging without being frustrating. Instructions are provided on screen as well as audibly and the interface is very intuitive.
LeapFrog sent us the Sports and Dance & Learn games. The system also has a built-in game called Pet Play World that you can access after you register the system. The first thing we did was unbox it and get it setup. It took about 2 minutes to get batteries in the remote and connect the camera to the base and the HDMI cable to the TV.
LeapTV video gaming system comes with a very easy-to-follow setup guide. Once connected you setup the wifi connection and then are ready to register the system on your computer. The registration process was done in a snap and we created player profiles for our kids. You can create up to 5 player profiles and creation and deletion of profiles is behind a parental lock code.
The kids quickly got hooked on Pet Play World and I had to suggest that we try out one of the other games. They decided on sports and really enjoyed the different activities. Their favorite activity is soccer. They just love trying to block all the balls and especially the water balloons! They also have a blast doing rail slides in the skateboard game.
LeapTV gives you three unique ways to play:
With Body Motion, children get to be the star! The motion sensing camera captures movements. They get to run, hop, be a goalie, a karate ninja and scuba diver! My kids especially loved the dancing and martial arts!
Want your kids to work on their motor skills while having too much fun to notice? In Pointer Play, the controller becomes a pointer and the kids can chop coconuts and hack at jungle vines. They can even swing like a super hero from building to building.
In Classic Control, kids push buttons like you would a classic controller for quick moves and fast gaming fun!
Educational fun? This is what I am loving about this the most! It combines the above entertainment with learning. Kids work on reading, math, science and problem solving skills from LeapFrog’s Learning Library of more than 100 game cartridges, downloads and videos. I have different aged kids and there is something for each of them. Some of the games adapt to each child’s level to challenge them even within the appropriate age level.
They took a snack break and colored some Pet Play World printables that featured some super cute LeapFrog characters.
Our LeapTV Party was a hit! The kids were talking about it for days afterward! Watch the videos below to see it in action!

This looks like so much fun for the kiddos – I love that it gets them up and moving which would be perfect for getting some exercise into them during these cold winter months. I am really considering picking it up for a Christmas gift!
